Halo (TV Series)

I think it was Forward Unto Dawn (or at-least one of the official features or featurettes of that era) kind of had the premise that the Spartans were very integrated with their suits, I don't think it has really been a part of Halo generally though - it has also been a feature of some semi-official and/or fan made content - which generally wouldn't be "canon" so to speak.

Still too much Helmet off for my liking. One of the mysteries of Halo was you never got to see his face.
Works in a game for various player-orientated reasons and the story exclusively moves forward by player action whereas any other format of story telling isn't going to be particularly interesting with a walking tank that barely expresses himself that just shoots things for 40 minutes. I'm sure some folks would like that but personally kind of want something not restricted by gameplay limitations.

No it isn't  How is it integral to how the suit or character works?

They were genetically engineered enhanced to fit the armour and helmet. It's like a second skin. Taking off the helmet is like making you blind and deaf, and unarmoured obviously. It's a force multiplier. You cut off all your sensors and AI as well. The idea is the Spartans are more uncomfortable out of the armour.

In the first season theres a screen where they are in space in a ship that's at great risk of venting into space. Not one of them puts on the helmet.

Thats why theres the whole arc about "choosing" children that are smart enough to use the technology and strong enough to survive the enhancements.

The TV show is making them out to be dumb grunts. Discovering feelings, and ripping off their armour (and clothes) at every opportunity, oooh look the pretty colours. Elite forces? Yeah not so much.

I've not played the games that much. But too repetitive for me. Mostly watched the movies including the animated ones and ....shock horror... the books.

Imagine Darth Vader/Judge Dredd taking off his helmet every 5 mins. A shower scene or two.

I get it's a TV show and they want to see a face for dialogue and emotions etc. But if you decide to use Darth Vader character then give him an undercover in the city Sherlock Holmes story the writer has only themselves to blame.

I've just realised you're the same poster that raised this before and then never replied when I corrected you. I think it is fair to say you don't know the source material if you think that is true.

If your comment was as vague as this one then it's fair to say it's not surprising you don't get many replies.

If people want shower scenes and soldiers discarding their weapons and armour at every opportunity to take in scenery who am I to argue. Each to their own.

Again I'll restate, there is no reason in any of the lore that Spartans would stay in their armour all the time. They don't go blind when they take it off, it doesn't keep them alive, they're not magically bonded or anything like that. It's just armour. You can choose to believe otherwise if you want, but you're wrong.

If you want to make a TV series out of it, you need to have more character depth and some sort of storyline to go with it which involves more than one guy shooting stuff for hours on end.

I love watching game movies like Halo, Mass Effect etc but you can't make a TV series like that. If that's what you want, just go play the game or watch a game movie.

Have you watched any of the Halo movies, animated etc..

Well you can't argue with the viewing and subscriber figures.

Personally I didn't renew Paramount, and won't for Halo S2. But might for other shows next year.
