Halo (TV Series)

Are they fixed in the suit in the lore? I always thought it was removable.

The idea is the Spartan and the suit are a integrated system. It's a force multiplier. They are more comfortable in the suit than out of it. In the TV show you really get the sense they can't wait to be out of it. Every 2 mins the helmet comes off, even in combat situations. Sometimes he's not even wearing any armour in a threat situation. I realize seeing the actor is a TV thing. But it's like the Judge Dredd movies. It's not the same character if he keeps removing the helmet. He's mostly not in the helmet or the armour in the show.

That said I think the show is ok. I just dislike how they have to rewrite the original story arc instead of creating a new independent story arc.

Why every other show has to be about some stoic character getting in touch with their feelings I dunno. There's an alien invasion nuking your planets but... feelings....

That's what killed the series for me from the start to be honest.

I think you know from that point all you hold dear is in for a creative kicking.

They've played lose and fast with other key story arcs as well. I dunno why they have to do that.

It's a pity as it's not bad otherwise.

Agreed.
The whole thing about never seeing the main character's face is it kills the immersion, that sounds like such a cliche but it's true.

Helmet comes off, spoiler alert, it's not you.
What do you mean? I'm pretty sure I've spent hours bouncing around the galaxy with an AI whispering sweet nothings in my ear for days/weeks/months etc etc

My problem with is they've fundamentally changed the main character, the Spartans. I don't just mean their personalities. But they are a system linked to their suits. In this show the suit its treated just like a change of clothes.

I'm not sure where you've got this idea but it's not true, Spartans remove their suits in both the games and books. Hell one Spartan even voluntarily gives up his suit. They're not 'linked' at all.

Does Master Chief?
Genuine question by the way.

From what little I have seen of Halo 5 Guardians, I know that lot are more than happy to shed their gear.

The only time I've seen MC in anything but gear is when he was a wee young lad.

Master Chief doesn't (at least in the games) but that seems to be Bungie being a bit weird over their player character. There is no reason he shouldn't.

Bungie being a bit weird
It's the whole game immersion thing I mentioned in a previous post.

It's hinted towards and assumed that MC does remove the gear at some time or another, but its never shown.

Seeing as MC kinda the main character in the TV series, they really should have kept with the unknown face thing.

End of Halo4 you literally see his amour being removed by technicians lol.
But you don't see who is inside the armour, that's the whole point.
Either way, the series is a complete mess and just another generic story with a bit of power armour and some aliens.

Yea that's true. I think they lost the idea that Cortana in the game filled in for Cheif being a silent human tank. Fact I do t really recognise the show at all to be honest.

Well they didn't want to make a Halo show to begin with, and they certainly didn't want toxic masculinity MC front and centre either, so get his helmet off sideline him and then they can write their own trash instead. Typical formula, no interest in the IP but need the IP as that's the only thing that will interest people.

Show airs, show is *****, move on to next IP and ruin that.

Not a mystery. It's integral of how the suit and thus the character works. It's integral to the original story. Anyway that ship has sailed.
