Halogen bulb ban

Had 400w of halogen bulbs in the kitchen in my new place. Hated how I could feel the heat on my head and neck, especially during this hot summer we've had.
35 or so mr16 50w halogen bulbs in the new house. Have changed over 20 so far to 5w LEDs at a cost of around £3 each including wiring in new GU10 connectors.
Should save a pretty penny over the years.

Saving money =/= saving energy. If you are heating your house electrically anyway (Which many smaller homes do these days), Low energy bulbs will only save "energy" at those times of year/day when you are already too hot and it is also dark at the same time. Probably for no more than 2-3 months of the year and even then only for a couple of hours a day.

Pansies, just leave the heat off, jesus... wet blouses.

Well,

Having replaced the Halogen bulbs in my kitchen with LED ones, the downside is that they generate so much RF interference, I can no longer use my radio.

And the dimmable ones do not dim smoothly, Once you get down to a certain point they flicker annoyingly and then cut out altogether.

Both are a PITA! :(

DAB FTW!!!

Hardly blame the EU for this one, our green is good politicians would be pushing for this irrespective of the EU. The Climate Change Act 2010 probably requires these measures to achieve it anyway.
