Hamilton to Mercedes? BBC

Perez is at Maranello working with Ferrari this week, but little or no interest I guess :) never mind about his Ferrari contract.

So now Lewis is coming to Ferrari in 2016? I thought Ferrari were signing Vettel in 2014 and Lewis was going to Red Bull?

Whilst I completely agree with Allen's point about Hamilton perhaps being more concerned with his own 'brand', highlighted by things such as signing with an entertainment company rather than a motorsport or even just sports management team I do wonder if he runs the risk of that 'brand' diminishing at Mercedes.

He's what he is because he can be a balls to the wall racer and win exciting races, that's what creates his popularity. Do the same thing in a team that's struggling to even pick up podium places and suddenly you're not a superstar so much as a mildly interesting midfielder like Kobayashi.

A couple of years finishing mid table could do a lot of harm to the Hamilton brand, in a way that was never a concern for someone like Alonso, who always seemed to care more about the racing than his media following.

edit - to me, the whole thing seems as if the relationship with McLaren has become strained, he's looking elsewhere but Ferrari have no interest, RBR are happy with their guys, Lotus seem relatively sorted and Mercedes is the next best team that might have an opening of any sort. It may not be a choice so much as a lack of choice that's steered him Mercedes way.

Interest in putting him in a Ferrari next year. Something Ferrari have been quite vocal about before you pull the "so how do you know?" card.

And am I not allowed to have more than one theory of what might happen in the future? Or perhaps your just responding to me in the hope of stirring up a fight now that you know I can see some of your posts, rather than just trying to claim the last word when you thought I couldn't see them?

Perez to McLaren

it would be a perfect match, a team that struggles to pull of a pit stop with some who pits half as much as everyone else

I think he's going to spend a couple of years in the mid field expecting a fast car that doesn't arrive before trying to move on again,

like alonso did with renault?

im sure most were saying hamilton needed a few years in a midtable team to grow as a driver.

if he does sign, i wonder how long it will be for. 2-3 years to see how it all pans out then try and get on to which ever team comes out on top or go forit with 5 years and hope mercedes come good.

most likely after all this he will just sign with mclaren again :p

Maybe he does but growing as a driver is not the same as growing as a star and if the latter is more important to him, he may not respond so well to the former.

Lol :D

Exactly. Writing that comment made me think exactly that, which is why I speculated about him moving to Ferrari when Alonso leaves (his current contract runs until the end of 2015 doesn't it).

Just ignore me if you are going to have a hissy fit, I commented on your post here nothing more it seems you are the one wanting a fight over it. I have never stopped replying to your posts whether you can see them or not either. Funny enough today this was posted.

It seems on this forum section now unless you are 100 blinkered and banging the pro drum you are a hater. There's no middle ground, hater or fan boy. It's getting a bit tiresome and stifling any decent debate IMO :)

You discussion hater! ;)

Its a valid point though, its getting stupid.

Yet here you are raging because I debated a point with you? I have no idea why you are acting like this. It's really not healthy.

We have no idea how much interest Ferrari have shown in him driving for them, he still has a Ferrari academy contract and was at Maranello today in the simulator, so it seems they are still interested in him to me.

You can have as many theories as you like. But its a bit silly to be predicting who is going to be where in 2016 IMO.

Which means they are interested in giving him the drive once he has more experience, 2 year loan to Sauber, back to Ferrari in 2014, sound familiar to another driver at Ferrari now?

Also
Stefano Domenicali said: “Ferrari cannot have two young drivers, there is incredible pressure at this team.”

“But a mix between an extremely strong driver and one younger with the potential to be great would be complementary.”

what ever the tatics are by Hamilton i hope he dosnt call bluff to many times as he is in the best seat possible as far as im concerned.

He needs to man up and understand that there is no I in team. As well as driving his socks off.

I am sure that the whole mercedes thing is simply a ploy to get more money, which im sure is vastly different to his last contract given the world climate.

I for sure hope he stays at mclaren as a fan.

But were talking about him filling a space at McLaren next year. Ferrari have shown little to no interest in putting him in a Ferrari next year. I dont get what you find so unacceptable about that idea?

Funny, at the start of that article, when it was talking about Di Resta I was about to start a post with "I don't see why McLaren would be so interested in Di Resta, if I were them I'd be knocking on Sauber's door every weekend." :p

It's called "speculation," and it's what we're doing in this thread anyway. It's fun.

One point that hasn't really been picked up on - Kimi filling the vacant Hamilton seat. I'd like to see that, though as Allen says, the sponsor thing could be the stumbling block. Always liked Kimi as a driver.

I don't even think Vettel will end up at Ferrari. They don't need anyone for at least 6 years unless Alonso has told them he will retire early. I'd bet Alonso signs yet another extension. They seem to love him and he loves them.
