I really do hope that isn't the case with Richard, I'm sure I read on the bbc news website that he complained of lower back pain when they cut him out of wreckage - just pray he's one of the statistical miracles.

Fair enough, last night it was breaking news on the news channels. But this morning to have it as the lead headline on the BBC News site is pretty sad. There are far more important things happening in the news that should be higher up the list. It may be a slow news day, but surely the situation in Thailand should be the most prominent story.
Again, don't take this the wrong way. I like the guy and wish him a speedy recovery. But the way this story is being handled smacks slightly of the ol' Princess Diana / Ken Bigley type thing. For the next 48 hours I guess we'll be having reporters standing outside the hospital giving updates on his condition every 5 minutes, whilst in the studio they interview people that have known him as if he was a senior politician or member of the royal family. I dread to think of the response if the poor guy had died in the crash.![]()
The Thai coup, whilst very important is actually a pretty peaceful one and only there to rid the government of the present corrupt ministers. The people and the King support it, so I think we can safely say that the government have no chance. Other than that and more spin on terror plots/extremism to allow the government to enforce new legislation e.g. the removal/restriction of the HRA, there isn't much to report. Also Hammond is a BBC presenter and the fact that the BBC has been involved in such an incident is quite shocking given that usually you would expect the very best safety (after all, we are paying for them).Raider said:Tis sad news indeed.
