Tis sad news indeed. However I have to say that i'm quite shocked at the amount of coverage this is receiving in the news.
Fair enough, last night it was breaking news on the news channels. But this morning to have it as the lead headline on the BBC News site is pretty sad. There are far more important things happening in the news that should be higher up the list. It may be a slow news day, but surely the situation in Thailand should be the most prominent story.
Again, don't take this the wrong way. I like the guy and wish him a speedy recovery. But the way this story is being handled smacks slightly of the ol' Princess Diana / Ken Bigley type thing. For the next 48 hours I guess we'll be having reporters standing outside the hospital giving updates on his condition every 5 minutes, whilst in the studio they interview people that have known him as if he was a senior politician or member of the royal family. I dread to think of the response if the poor guy had died in the crash.
