what's the point trying to explain. u will just turn everything, u just think your right and others are wrong

Jesus, really?

It's called opinion. You're doing exactly the same thing, in case you didn't realise. I'm putting forward points as to why Modern isn't very good, you are putting forward points as to why it is.

Simples.

How is snap screen overlaid on to desktop?

No idea, I'm not a programmer and I don't use it.

personally i dont find it to be bolted on or anything, but rather a nice compliment to the desktop, and really just a start screen thats quick and easy to organise and use, and can be accessed from whichever screen i'm on, it really suits the way i work and i find it pleasing on the eye. I have removed any app's from it, and sorted my file associations which also helps, but still appreciate the new UI.

Couldnt care less about the extra click involved to shutdown /restart, am using sleep much more as it seems to work very well and hopefully shutdowns and restarts will be pretty infrequent.

Desktop can be closed just like an app:) you cannot close metro, so yes, desktop is an app.

Even if you close desktop just like you do with apps, the desktop is still running. For example, i have a bunch of stuff running in desktop mode like, steam, wmp, chrome etc and then i close desktop just like other apps, and then launch it again, all of my programs in desktop mode are still running.

If i close a Metro app, it closes completely.

So desktop is not a app, its a core part of the OS just like Metro.

All those people thinking of buying Start8, should have a look at StartIsBack.

It turns out MS left most of the Win7 start menu code buried in Win8's Explorer.exe, in order to support Jump Lists. StartIsBack simply calls that code, bringing back the real start menu, rather than being a slightly clunky clone like Start8.

It's well worth the $3 he is charging for a two computer licence.

But how an "App" works and what the desktop is are two extremely different things. The facts are the facts, unless I am missing something? Not trolling, just maybe missing something?

Well you boot straight to start menu, to get to desktop you click the desktop app icon, you can close the desktop, everything that is accessible in the desktop can be started in the start menu as far as I know, plus more.

Task Manager> App History.

I see no mention of "desktop".

It's not a true app, but it is far more of an app than it is the core system.
As allready said it handles the desktop in many ways as an app.

So as others have said its like an app. Not that the people saying the desktop is the core makes any sense. That's the kernal. Desktop/metro is mainly just a UI overlaid.
