US: Hannibal

It certainly seems promising, I liked the first episode but that's as far as I've got yet. If you could have had anyone to play a young Hannibal Lector who would it have been? I personally would pick Michael Fassbender, think he'd make a great young Hannibal.

Mikkelsen is perfect as Hannibal. Very creepy, yet pulls off the level of intelligence and sophistication that the character needs. I consider him to be THE Hannibal as opposed to Hopkins hammy portrayal of the character (he was excellenet in SoTL admittedly).

Dancy is good as Will Graham as well. Seems a bit more like the character was portrayed by Petersen (as well as having a physical similarity) in Manhunter than Norton in Red Dragon.

Really enjoying this, find it easier to pick things up if I sit down with 2 or 3 at a time though.

I am really enjoying it. I can see why its not doing amazing though. Nothing to do with the show but I can see a lot of Americans not liking it because its very thought provoking and very cerebral rather than uninvolved action. For clever, mystery/horror they already have Dexter. Pity really as I really like it.

It not doing well is more down to it being on NBC than anything else. It's really not the type of show that their viewers tune in for and would likely do much better on one of the cable channels. They're far too wary of offending their viewers for it to last long there.

Hopefully the rumours are true and it'll get sold on as Fuller apparently has 7 seasons planned out for it.

I've really got into this now and it's one of my favourite tv shows on at the moment. The only thing I wish they'd stop doing is that stupid light that goes across the screen whenever Will Graham is analysing a crime scene. It really breaks the immersion for me.

really? I like that.. Its like a physical representation of him stripping away the layers...

How is this getting a second season? There is far too much thinking involved for the regular U.S. audience! :p

Just incase anyone's interested in recreating the exquisite meals that Hannibal serves up in the show, here's Janice Poon's blog.

Feeding Hannibal

She's the show's 'food stylist', and I believe it's Chef José Andrés who created the dishes.

One of the main reasons I watch the show is to see the dinner scenes!

Thanks for the link.
