hardc0re_tid's Nissan AlmeraT

can i ask though, why didnt u just start with an almera GTi as a base platform and work from there? they are cheap 1-2k for a decent one, saves buying an sr20 and spending 14 hours fitting it!

i got the gti with sr20 for £100 lol

in total ive spend about 3k on the car, including 800 for it

for torque, have u played with the igntion timing? on my primera GT i got a timing light and advanced the ign to like 19" (stock 15) and ran only on super. i had an SSAC mani and also a SS powerflow catback!

incidently i have a PC link cable and softwarefor the ecu interface so u can measure things and set to timing mode (for sale cheaply). and i also have a nismo oil filter cap (genune imported from the USA), for sale also. as i have sold the pirmera long since.

how much for the software and cable?

I know this car through kieranV I'm sure. The bonnet was rat look gone slightly different as it was galvanised?

I quite like it for what it is. I want to get myself a primera or an almera gti in January!

you know kieran? drives the red 5dr? lol, small world, his gran lives across the road from me lol small world indeed!

yea the bonnet is galvanised

yikes! i paid £2.5 for a V reg primera GT Limited edition with 50k on the clock (full leathers) in excellent conidition with SR20 already built in!!!! and that was 4-5 years ago now:/

prob £25 for the cable etc! no idea what i did with the software but ill try to find it. its called like datascan or something.

yea datascan! thats the one, think you can download it, IIRC! :S

well the gti was in bad shape, rotting, rusting, chassis rails were fubard, went to the dogs tbh

the sr20 was putting out 189bhp with dastek piggyback ecu, jwt s3 cams, nismo fpr, hks cold air induction kit

guy i got it off sold the cams, fpr, and kept the piggyback ecu and stuck it onto his autech pulsar which is now putting out 170+ i think

I was going to take the mick but the ore I read the more I liked. Plus your car is my ones younger brother thus we are siblings :D

Now I want to do an SR20 swap in mine, any links to good info, possibilities, and recommendations ?

lol younger brother?

ah right, is that anything to do with Rowdy GTi at all? i remmber he had a pretty track smart almera from back in the day!

but yea apart from that good luck and keep promoting the almera. i tried on this foruma while ago, but they had non of it, despite me posting links to several reviews that stated that the car was infact a much overlooked gem with decent potential.

ah well.

Rowdy is a leg-end as is the likes of D-bull and kristian etc

the almera gti and the ek sytle civic's (i think) are on par with each other, dont quote me on that as i dont know my honduh's

thanks for the comments, it'll not be everyone's cuppa tea, some like it, MANY dont, oh well, its my pride and joy for what it is lol

coilovers and the sr20 complete it i reckon

lol its now sitting on the vag g60 steelies

bonnet looks well IMO but yea, it is my ride

im going for the rat look, toying with doing this :D lol

with relation to the timing, keeping it at the stock 15 is better... or so i read :s

As you gave permission...

Seriously, what ARE you thinking? It's like a mobile advertisement for the benefits of the Scrappage scheme. It looks absolutely ridiculous, 'rat look' suits old VW's (infact thats a whole new thread, its arguable whether it suits anything' but on a Nissan its 'crap look'. The looks a complete mess, there are many things you can do to improve the way an Almera looks but this is not one of them. What a waste of effort.

Then... the mechanicals.

I really, really hoped 'AmeraT' was some sort of mad turbo conversion. I held off posting until I found out for sure. But to get to the trouble of an engine transplant only to stick a wheezy 2 litre in developing all of 140bhp? Whats the point? I love the way you say its really fast and keeps up with an Almera GTi as if thats some sort of acheivement, I drove a diesel 4 pot repmobile on Sunday that would keep up with an Almera GTI!

Just... wow. I'm really sorry, I like to try and find something positive about even the most hated of cars but the only positive thing about this is the fact that the money you've spent on it has at least gone towards keeping people in this country working at the suppliers you've used in a job.

You were so close to having it look half decent but... a matt black rat look Almera with a broken bonnet :( :( :(

I've been more harsh than usual cos he gave permission to **** it off :D

thanks for your opinion..... you dont like... oh well

the 'wheezy 2litre engine' aka an SR20.... is FROM the Almera GTi, Primera GT... which produces 140bhp, which does keep up with my mates gti, albeit he has 8lbft torque more, kindly do your research beforehand please

as for the turbo... it has been on my mind but cant justify spending the best of a grand just to stick an angry snail under the bonnet

lol you will not get 30bhp easily from a SR20DE... that'll need some decent cash spending. Anyone who says they have done it for nothing either have a poor butt dyno or a very optimistic local dyno :E

huh? who said that 30bhp more was gonna be cheap :S

to get that sort of result your looking at cams (JWTs3's £600), piggyback ecu (dastek (£3-400), fpr (nismo £100), cold air induction (Apexi £120), exhaust system (£300 easy)

instanly theres over 1.5k spent

i know that 170+ is doable with the above mods as the sr20 that i am now runnng was pushing out 189bhp until the guy started to break it

im running standard cams, ecu, fpr, a SSA 4-2-1, decat and autech system

155 engine hp ain't bad with the above mods seeing as a standard sr20 puts out 140~ engine hp

Sorry, i may have missed something, but the Primera GT SR20DE produces 150bhp?

sorry, i beg your pardon, the earlier GT's... did they run the non RR version which were 140ish, from what i can see in the haynes book of lies, they did as they mention about the ph1 2 and 3 engines, different throttle body housings etc is all i can see, the roller rocker version produces 150bhp yes.

the 140bhp sr20's have a precat in the downpipe and a cat along the underside which is why the boys on AOC can only assume of the lower bhp

not quite sure how they did it seeing as the RR version is the same in all late ph1 and all the ph2 almera gti's

It probably isn't but even if it is, wow, 155bhp. Stunning.

£3k could have bought a 200SX.

yea, it could have, but i chose to spend all of... wait for it.... 800 quid on a car and do my own thing to it. we cant all drive about in 3 litre 5 series BM's.

ok fair enough, you did your research (not a lot by the looks of seeing as you didnt mention that the engine that i put in was infact from the gti... then you go and say that, 'i think its really fast and keeps up with my mates gti... :o) he has the same mods as me btw

youve made your point that you dont like it, slagged it off like i gave you permission to, cant see how your input from here on in is going to be of any use or relevance to anyone... so kindly do one, please.

He isn't disputing the fact that your car can keep up with an Almera GTi (lol).

He is saying that "keeping up with an Almera GTi" isn't anything to be proud of.

140bhp from a 2.0 engine is pretty pathetic.

Oh, and seeing as you opened the criticism door, I think it looks pretty amazingly awful. You really have to be quite skilled to make something look that bad, so well done :)

thanks for the comments, i really couldnt care less what people think about it

keeping up with my mates almera gti with the same mods as me... and the fact that mine is down on compression by 3bar below his is a good enough reason to state that ''it keeps up with my mates'' dont you think?

ive only skim read the thread, but does that car owe you £3k?

about 1k of it was spent on audio, 800 for the car and the rest of it was spent on this an that, wheels, coilovers, doner gti, other bit and bobs

So, did you matt black it yourself? I see in the one picture theres someone (you?) with a rattle can and one of the can holders for spraying..

yes that would be me, EVERYTHING has been done by me bar the exhaust work and the tyre fitting
