hardocp 3870x2 review up

and the fact as its been noted here all or most major sites just use the inbulit gpu test or another benchmarking tool and dont' take ingame fps into account ocp does this with min avg and max so thats why its more than likely this is a better account of what the card can do!!!

and for ati to come in a year behind the gtx with a 300 quid card that hardly beats it is laughable tbh 512gts is the way to go till better cards come out!

Anandtech has already responded to that:

In fact, it's not hard to make a case that timedemos and graphics only benchmarks are a better indication of relative worst case scenario performance. In a situation where graphics is the largest bottleneck in the system (which is not a rare occurrence), a graphics only or timedemo benchmark will even more accurately predict relative performance.

Who's right who's wrong? ive no idea. Imo its up to the individual. To address your last point, if you think beating a card by 40-50fps in some games is hardly beating it then amd and nvidia may as well stop work right now...

I love how people are saying "it took ati 2 gpu's to beat nv wah wah" I can only say Im glad that I wasnt around when intel released their core 2 and quad cores. where's amd now :p

Whos has a proper benchmark with the proper driver?

All the reviews I ve seen so far scream "ATI IS DEAD".

actually the x2 done a good number on all single based cards appart from the ultra which it very narrowly beat.

please dont forget this is a new card and as driver revisions come out it will improve over time and mature.

Oh god, its amazing the arguments you can put forth when you just want to bash something for the hell of it.

Crossfire is more effecient but not to the extent that its gonna best 2 gt's which beat out the standard 3870 by a sizable margin. Even if it had beat out the gt's by a sizable margin you'd still find something to whine about like always.

if crossfire was really as efficient as you say it is then the 3870x2 shoudl easily out beat 2 x 8800gts 512 in sli.

going by all the benchmarks crossfire does not scale as well as people think it does.

tom's review has the X2 winning over the ultra. And I just read they are using (beta) drivers.

That means they are not using the driver the card was delayed for?

its hard to tell but even so its still promising for the card. Im sure people will be blamming nv's card when it comes out cos of carp drivers too - Im sure its not the first time its happened :p

riight

Yeah cause its gonna scale 120- 150% just cause you expect it to. Go call ati and tell them you demand a 200% crossfire increase or all ocuk forums shall know that cybermav considers crossfire to be pointless. Im sure they'll hop right on making the impossible possible just for you.

lol if you think new drivers are gonna be loads better than your in for a shock they have had over a year to dev this card and build drivers for it to use and flow better and they still released the card the way it is so its not gonna get much better tbh

Yeah because no card ever sees driver improvements ove its lifetime. Drivers are generally released so ati and nvidia can laugh at us downloading them and sucking up their bandwidth for no reason.

for £300 id be looking at an ultra on ebay or a GTX tbh.

had a gtx, it killed everything without sweating, was quiet, overclocked well, ran off a corsair 520w psu fine.

what more can you want ?

if your going to over exagurate my comment why dont you do it properly.

if you read the anandtech review amd reported up to 60% improvement in the games they focused on working on for the new driver. so although NO Im not expecting a big improvement, but with statements from amd like that you cant deny that good drivers make a good performance.

reports and facts are totaly differnt things and where are these reports coming from amd of course wow what a suprise!!!

ofcourse amd are going to lie arent they... yes congrats lets phone up the sun and tell them that OCUK's leon4112 has just found out ATI's greatest conspiracy ever.

and gz for realising a report is different from a fact. what ever your trying to say :/ :D

so far crossfire is just as crap as sli in the scaling factor. why people say crossfire scales better? i have no idea on that but i have now seen all the reviews out there and can honestly say that crossfire is no better than sli.

lol im not argueing if it was a all new amazing faster card i would buy one right now but judgeing from the still current stock in ocuk its not

its not like 300 quid is loads fo a gfx card but when u look at it when the gtx came out its a bit much for this amd card

and if you think a company whos business is to make money won't lie about stats then !!!!!!!

actually you cant go by the ocuk stock on site because thats said 10 all day and I have bought 1 and gerrard has bought 1 and it still says 10 :p they just have a more than 10 available.

wasnt it more than what this card is currently going for? bare in mind it is release day so the high tag will be because of that.

They dont flat out lie - they bend the truth.

Looks like AMD just can't compete right now. Even two of its best struggles against a card well over a year old.

im with you on this one, TWO 3870s competative with a single 8800GTX, well woopdedo, thats shocking considering how old the 8800GTX is now, never wanted to say this but NVIDIA are the obvious choice for GFX cards at the moment, can't see any reason anyone would go with AMD?
