Whatever their respective histories, I'm willing to bet their upbringings were anything but namby pamby.
It's very likely indeed that they knew violence from a young age.

I'm sure things like this stem from the few 'teeth' society had to deal with errant little so and so's were taken away and nothing realistic that carries any weight of threat was put in place. They continue to do as they please with no punishment having any effect until the very worst of them do something like this.
No empathy = psychopathic tendencies. The authorities need to keep a sharp eye on these girls, because quite far down the line they are likely to do something similar again. I wonder if they have been cruel to animals in these early years? That's when a budding psychopath can usually be detected.
I've been watching serial killer documentaries lately, and they almost remind me of the 'replicants' out of Blade Runner. Just not human.

If you think it was a lack of smacking them that caused them to beat someone to death, just wow!
Steven Pinker has an excellent TED talk on how historic records show that the chances of a violent death at the hands of another human being have steadily gone down as civilisation has flourished.
But there are always those who without evidence say the opposite...
Because it is a major factor in her vulnerability.

In an attack as brutal as this, I don't think their ages of 13 and 14 should be relevant. It was their prerogative, they knew what they were doing. 25 years before parole for murder imo.

Yeah. Every adult should be judged by what they were doing at the age of 13.
If its torturing a human being to death for fun...yes, yes they should be judged for it.
If they were child soldiers or being forced then thats differnt this is two ****ed up people doing it for fun and taking photos.
They knew full well what they were doing and what the result of thier actions would be.
They showed no remorse and no fear towards prision or being sentenced.
**** it send them to syria theyd fit in well there.
