Harry Redknapp gone

Oh I know, it's just they're two of the more obvious. AVB possibly needing more time/has a somewhat damaged reputation because of how Chelsea went wrong, and Rafa being viewed by many fans (not me) as a dodgy manager who did EVERYTHING WRONG at Liverpool, lol.

Considering the salary Tottenham will be able to offer a new manager, and their location, they will be able to attract quite a few possible candidates.

Levy now has a hell of a summer ahead of him.

Get signings in
Keep Modric and Bale
Get a new manager...

No pressure

Laurent Blanc would be good imo.

(Spurs being my adopted 2nd team for a good few seasons now.)

Awww :( I liked 'Arry.

I hope Martinez doesn't get the job, I'd love to have AVB there.

This Summer is going to be make or break for us now, I really don't know who we should get in to replace Harry that will take us up a level.

On initial thinking it does seem like a strange decision, however after the implosion that happened during the England manager debacle it actually seems like this outcome was inevitable.

I shall be waiting with baited breath to see who we get in.

I would be very surprised if it's anyone currently working in the Premiership. While Levy has been in charge, he's had Jacques Santini, Martin Jol and Juande Ramos before Redknapp, so I would suspect it will be someone like Frank de Boer, an up and coming European head coach, with an experienced Director of Football again.

Summer of change at the lane anyway.

Those figures are very wrong, lol. Even so, turnover has increased, and it shows a club operating in profit (before tax admittedly) in 5 of 6 six years, hardly cause for concern, when you compare that to the massive debts most other clubs have in the Prem.

No idea if the figures are right or wrong as I'm not Spurs accountant :p but the increased turnover and a lot of the money that allowed Spurs to break even in 2011 would have come from playing in the Champions League.

If that data is correct they could easily be £40m in the red this year if spending has stayed the same.

I'm going for Laurent Blanc, not a bad punt at 40/1. I think he is out of contract after the Euro's. He did well at Bordeaux and if he can turn the French team around from the shambles it was at South Africa to the quality side it is now he can't be that bad at all.

Whoever it is has probably already been tapped up before they sacked redknapp. I can't see it being moyes for that reason. Spurs wouldn't want to look idiots by sacking Harry and not having someone willing to instantly step up.

Enlighten us as to the correct figures, then...

Edit :: The figures I posted match up with Deloitte's...

Can't get the site as I'm at work, but just look at transfers in 2011, and then look at the figures you've quoted. It's way out. I can only imagine they have quoted the figures from the 2011 AGM rather than up to the end of the year, but still, there certainly won't be a 40m shortfall or something silly like that.

if it aint broke dont fix it. i bet if u offered any tottenham fan 4th place before the season even started not 1 tottenham fan would have turned it down, ye i'm sure he did get distracted about england but in all honestly the media made such a big hype about it they basically chose the manager not the F.A. he was put in a tough position from the start as soon as capello resigned, i think it's a huge mistake and they will regret it.

Would you have taken 4th in January though?

They deal in financial years, but the evidence still obviously contradicts your statement that Spurs' wage bill hasn't increased.

I still don't believe those figures are correct, and even so considering the players that have left, I would bet the figures for 2012 are much lower. Still it's not like spurs are spending beyond their means and are suddenly going to go bankrupt now Redknapps gone, to actually think that is ridiculous.

I wasn't suggesting they would go bankrupt either, my point was if those figures are correct Spurs have structurally gambled on qualifying for Champions League, without the Champions League money they will either be running a ~£40m deficit year after year or will have to sell some key players just to break even.

Again, I'm just reading into the figures that have been posted.

What have we spent this £40million on? Because it certainly wasnt players.

I didn't say they would go the way of Pompey/Southampton, that was someone else. The figures are almost certainly correct, though, considering they were done by Deloitte...

Why would the 2012 wages be 'much lower'? You got rid of a few players, but started paying Adebayor/Parker/Friedal/Saha/etc...

Here we go, only copying in last seasons -

Players Purchased Fee Players Sold Fee Net Total
Season 11/12
Brad Friedel Free Jamie O'Hara £5,000,000
Cristian Ceballos Free Jonathan Woodgate Free
Souleymane Coulibaly £2,000,000 Paul-José Mpoku Undisclosed
Yago Falqué Undisclosed Robbie Keane £4,350,000
Scott Parker £6,000,000 Alan Hutton £4,000,000
Callum Tapping Nominal
Peter Crouch £10,000,000
Wilson Palacios £8,000,000
Roman Pavlyuchenk £8,000,000
Nouha Dicko Free
Total £8,000,000 £35,000,000 -£27,000,000

So 27 mill profit on fees. Then think of wages saved on O'Hara, Woodgate, Keane, Hutton, Crouch, Palacios and Pavlyuchenko. Bentley, Jenas, Corluka and Bassong were also all loaned out, and I would suggest these players wages far outweigh the wages we were paying to Adebeyor, Parker, Friedel, Saha and Nelson.

Unfortunately there will never be a breakdown of that wage figure, but I can't see how it's possible that player wages jumped 25 million in the space of a year, considering the wage cap and players who came in and out in that space of time.

As for the 66 mill, take the 27 off that and your down to below what Wolves have apparently spent up till this summer, Spurs are hardly massive spenders.
