Has anyone got a delid tool?

I've read some people have resealed the Ihs back on neatly after killing a chip with vice and hammer method and RMA'd it without any problems. I guess ocuk will be a bit more knowledgeable and check for it but if it's sealed back on I'm not sure how easy it would be to tell it's being delidded before considering they would have to do it themselves to check.

No. As soon as u remove the IHS of any CPU your warranty is void using any item, thats not what I am saying.

I am not using scare tactics I delided a lot of CPU I am just passing on my findings. PCB on skylake is very thin. So extra care is needed.

Is there a real need with skylake. I was told that thermals had got a lot better and Intel was back to using good TIM in die.

Well iv'e just order the der8auer Delid-Die-Mate tool from OCuK while it was in stock for that brief time lol. So will report my findings.

8pack which thermal product would you recommend for the die? I hear everyone is using liquid pro with great success but isn't it conductive? That sounds risky to me. Just asking you as well your an expert :)

edit-
Btw ive got some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut stuff with my OCuK 360mm AIO bundle, i am tempted to use this between the cpu die and IHS. Would this be safer than liquid pro?

Not really as simple as that though is it.
Air cooler maybe.
Just a cpu getting watercooled on a 480mm rad. Doubt it as it would go under ambient temperature.

That's probably true! But isn't de-lidding for extreme over clockers or people who seem to have higher than average temps? If your using custom water cooling and your temps are quite good, as in not far off ambient then de-lidding probably isn't something you want to consider unless you just want cooler temps lol.

If I'm going CLU on the die what is best for the block? I've got some of the gield stuff that was supposed to be about the best.

Is the grizzly krynaught any better really?

tempted to get me one of these de-lid things for my 4770k, any advice on what to clean the stock paste out with and what to replace it with? I currently use a Phantek Cpu cooler on it but will more than likely go back to putting an AIO on it after changing the paste.

Pics of the tool.

Had to sand it alittle as was a very tight fit but goes in nice and snug now. Feels very strong actually which I wasnt expecting. I am now just waiting for my other bits to come and will give it a go. Expect a update next weekend hopefully.

Both parts can be ordered here: https://www.shapeways.com/search?q=Delid

Nice one, I printed one myself Samsung. Just got around to testing it this evening. Like yours it took a fair bit of sanding but the end result is perfect.

I made a video:

Nice guys. Good to see an alternative to the stupidly expensive tool as something that you may do once or twice.

Now, fancy letting me borrow it :D ;)

I think i'd be too scared to break it though aha

excellent video.looks almost idiot proof and for £20 which is realistic/not too expensive . great job.

hopefully if these become more common the unrealistic or over expensive price of the other tool will come down.;)
