Has Lord of the Rings spoiled epic movies for you?

Same here, have you read the book by any chance?. I read the book a couple of times and was really looking forward to the film but unfortunately my imagination pwns Peter Jacksons :D . Well maybe not but the film really didn't live up to the book for me. I also didn't like the the comedy elements added into the film, i could almost imagine all the kids in the cinema laughing.

Saying that i watched the films on box set so it could be a very different experience on the silver screen.
Are you talking about LoTR? Because I was talking about the Matrix as can be seen if you read my post again.

LoTR is the best book ever written and the LoTR trilogy is the finest trilogy ever made :)

LOTR is probably the most boring show I've seen to date. They seemed to have spent too much time on CGI etc they forgot to make the films good.

Star Wars is slightly better but failed to make a mark too.

So far I don't see how LOTR's has spoiled epic movies but infact made the point that you can make the most beautiful movie (thanks to cgi) but end up making it boring.

LOTR goes into my bin of films I will never watch again with the likes of 'The last king of Scotland' and many more.

Oh, 300 gets slagged for flaws in its cgi but atleast they can make an exciting good movie you can watch and not get bored of. I'd rather have a good movie that I can watch than a movie with fantastic cgi with sod all to go along with it.

You kidding me ? 300 was entirely SHOT on Blue screen ! The cliffs, the sun, all those fields are CGI. At least in LOTR they shot the entire trilogy in NZ, chopper up into mountains and snow for their shots.

As for story, 300's plot is thinner than a piece of paper, and although it passes the 2 hours easy enough the actual content is waffler thin.

Who cares if they shot it in New Zealand, it didn't make it good.

EDIT: Just because they did all these things, I don't rate a film because they did this and that. If it was boring to watch, it was boring to watch. I wouldn't increase my rating for it just because it visually looked good.

But note my underlined of your post, you contradicted yourself big time. 300 is basically everything you hated, FULL of CGI and sod all to go with it.

Where LOTR has less CGI and a LOT more going with it.

I have nothing against CGI or alike but LOTR was rubbish to watch even with all its glory, whereas 300 for example was not as polished as LOTR but they made it with a good watchable story.

Ahh sorry my mistake, i didn't read the quote in your post. Yes i was talking about LOTR. I agree that LOTR is the best book ever written and i also agree that the films are the best trilogy ever made (if thats what you meant). Its just the films for me didn't live up to the book and now that Ive seen the film if i ever read the book again i will picture all the characters as they were in the film :( .

Nope.

Didnt rate them too highly to start with. They managed to spoil what could have been a very good film with pointless 'funny' bits in it.
