Has making a pass at a woman just become illegal?

Whereas back in normal society what a women wears should not be an invitation to be verbally abused in a sexual manner.

Agreed however this law also includes "staring intently" which, again, is determined as to what may be deemed "stating intently" by a reasonable person which is, IMHO, open to interpretation.... One person's idea of "staring intently" is different from anothers.

It's completely natural for people to look at other people they find attractive... Do we need to apply a "more than 2 seconds is staring intently" clause out there?

The basis of the law is reasonable however the line at which is to be used to determine if someone may have committed an offence, and is to be arrested and/or charged, is very fluid and open to interpretation... And when it comes to sexual offences, mud sticks regardless of the accused is not convicted.

This is my only concern with it....

It's a time honoured, multi national expression of appreciation of the female form, that's why. Like clapping a good play, but for bints in short skirts.
As was patting the waitress on the butt as she walks part, or having a feel of the young lady on the train.

Fortunately we're not in the 50's any more.

I randomly walked past a girl the other day whom I have an attraction for and I noticed she was looking at me so I deliberately avoided eye contact with her as I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable.

I had bumped into her a few weeks earlier and happened to look straight into her eyes and she deliberately looked away to the side which I interpreted as her feeling uncomfortable.

I used to think it was normal to maintain eye contact with someone you’re attracted to, but now I’d rather come across as shy rather than menacing.

Yes I agree. I think we need to be careful. I mean I come from France which has a bad rape issue but also a lot of male rape as well. However as you go further south towards the Med and the countries that hug the Med rapes per capita is tiny and the scantily cladness is higher so I don't think there's a link at least in hotter counties with little clothing and tapes. This must be a UK issue? I mean flirting with the sex you're interested in is never an issue if you're not predatory about it.

That's happened to most people. I just smile and say something to break the ice. If it leads to a conversation, great, if not just smile say bye and get on with your life.

Intense eye contact is often overwhelming.

The KKK hung 14 year old Emmet Till for whistling at a white woman.

Thing is he had a really bad stammer and his mother taught him to whistle when he was struggling to get his words out, so he wasn't actually whistling at her at all

Another ludicrous law based on impossible to quantify opinions is trying to be slipped quietly onto the statute book. If you fancy some bint expressing your interest could get you your collar felt if she decides you are harassing her. Quantifying "harassing" and by what metrics a "reasonable person", (as opposed to some vindictive, humourless vixen), may determine it to be such, is something you and her will presumably have to argue in the courts. Ain't life fun....?

The new Bill, due for its final report stage in the House of Commons on Friday, will make it an offence to cause “intentional harassment, alarm or distress” to a person in public based on their sex. Offenders will face a maximum of two years in jail.

However, campaigners said there was a loophole in the proposals that would let offenders escape prosecution by claiming they thought their behaviour was welcome, even if any other reasonable person felt it was not.

Mrs Braverman has now accepted their concerns and is backing an amendment that will close the loophole, by requiring a “reasonableness test” where a defendant “ought to know” their behaviour amounted to harassment.

This means anyone who catcalls, wolf-whistles or makes a pass or sexual comment towards a woman that a “reasonable” person would feel amounts to harassment will no longer be able to claim it was meant as a compliment or joke. Police will be issued with guidance so they can enforce the law.

earlier that day ... [Scooby Doo music] ...

Govt (who CW voted for): Hey, should we have a law where people are less terrible to each other?

CW: 'People'? Do you mean helpful to men (goodthink) or women (badthink)?

Govt: Probably women but it can affect men as we-

CW: Bint and collar felt [writes furiously to reddit and GD]

Due to previous encounters, I had made it clear I was into her. That’s probably why she felt uncomfortable. I felt cold for ignoring her and would rather had said hello but I didn’t want to give her the impression I was trying to pull her.

Trying to "pull her" probably wouldn't get you far. "trying to get to know her" might be a better strategy! ;)

I think she sees guys like me coming all the time and thinks we’re out for sex. That said she wouldn’t want a romantic relationship with that type of guy either so you get type cast based on how you look or behave.
