Has the 360 controller spoiled you?

The playstation controller has been around for nearly 15 years, everyone should be used to it by now. The 360 pad does fit in my hands better though.

We are, but I think it comes back to the point of being 'spoiled' by other, better designs.

If the 360 pad didn't exist, we would probably all still think the PS design was the bees knees.

I liked the PS controler until I played the Xbox-S controler, I never really liked the gamecube controller all the buttons were in silly places (IMO) but if all you needed to do was hit the Green button you were fine.

The 360 controller has raised the bar ergonomically, but I have a feeling my controller hates me. It keeps putting me in places where I die, and it seems to purposely delay telling the console that I have pressed a button, so that I die.

Apart from the new revision with a new d-pad and new bumpers?

Edit: Though it's a limited edition and only on sale in the US now, you'd hope they're actually going to put these changes into all future controllers eventually. What happened to the green one that had the new d-pad not long ago? I never saw that for sale.

So yeah, a full revision of the controller would be nice :p

That controller was reviewed by Eurogamer and they said the d-pad was still horrible, with barely any discernable difference from the last one.

I agree, the 360 is the better pad.

I'd also love for Sony to change their pad to be more like the 360 pad.

But I cringe at thinking about the reaction of Anti Sony/Pro 360 fans.

They would dance around naked wearing UV paint on their penis. Definately.

I would like to agree, but I was spoilt by the one I linked to...Logitech...it's the same idea as a PS pad, but much bulkier and feels much better in the hands.

Only problem is it's PC only.

How good is that for use with games running through emulation? For instance, Street Fighter 2 turbo, Does a half circle on the D pad and kick button actually do spinning kick every time? lol

Looks great

I have/had the non rumble one and used it for various 16 bit and below emulation and arcade games. Very useable in most games due to high number of buttons and easily configurable. Played Streetfighter with it mostly, until I got the 360 arcade stick, which works in Windows too.

I don't use it for games like SF...sorry. :(

I use the sticks for driving games...but now I have the 360 the PC is just for MSN and the web really. :)

I've just picked up a new green controller from a high street chain. I'll report a bit later if it's any different.

There is a new Microsoft pad with a new d-pad (EU exclusive, I believe). But testing on some websites and users shows no difference, in existing games (I think they ned to code games especially for the new pad, which kind of defeats the point, unless all old games get patched (something I doubt as the controller is only out in the EU, at the moment).
The trouble is, the new Xbox d-pad is still a "hat" switch - essentially a really small joystick that you move up/left/right/down, with a dpad-shaped piece of plastic chucked on top, instead of four actual buttons. I really don't get why they persisted with it, as it's so obvious just plain buttons would be miles better.
