@ boom

you should have dual bios switch on that board, flick it to backup bios and boot with that

seemslike corrupted main bios to me,you might also have qflash plus where you can flash bios again with no working cpu/memory

as for clearing cmos battery removal is always the best

to recover borked main bios, boot from backup bios then while still in bios screens flick switch to main bios and reflash main bios

I can't see a dual bios switch or anything on the mobo, I've checked the whole board? I must be blind lol !

You got any ideas where it could be? It's like playing a really annoying game of where's Wally !

Appreciate the help mate.

well not all boards have them so its hit and miss (manual will say whether it has dual bios switch or not)

but qflash plus should work, you'll need to read manual on how to do it,it flashes bios from usb stick with no working cpu or memory

Yeah there is def no switch to go to another bios..

I can't see anything about flashing with no CPU or Memory in the manual, I've put the F8 bios on a FAT32 stick and taken out all memory sticks. Put the USB stick into bios USB slot at rear of mobo but when I turn on it just does an endless loop...

Arrrrrrrrrrrgghh !

:D

you have to rename it,to what I don't know

look for qflash plus in the manual

"Q-Flash Plus

GIGABYTE Q-Flash Plus allows users to update to the latest BIOS using a thumb drive without the CPU or memory needing to be installed.
Do you have the latest CPU supported by your GIGABYTE motherboard but do not have the latest BIOS installed yet? This is no longer a problem with the new Q-Flash Plus feature. By simply downloading the latest BIOS and renaming it on a USB thumb drive, and plugging it into the dedicated port, you can now flash the BIOS automatically without the need to press any buttons or even the need of onboard memory or CPU. Utilizing the ITE EC 8951E controller, GIGABYTE X99 motherboard BIOS can be updated even if your system is unable to boot. An LED next to the EC controller will notify you once the procedure is complete and you are ready to boot your system normally."

off the website

ps it should be a white coloured usb port

I thought that would cure it (reflashing bios)

when did it start to do the black screen then? checked all your display cables ect

gpu fully seated? cleaned gold fingers that slot into mb on graphic card

if I were you id leave board unplugged from power overnight and also leave cmos battery out overnight

This time I managed to see the gigabyte Splash screen but will not let me enter bios and next screen is blank display but still sending signal to the monitor.. very weird..

Tried DVD Dual Link of 1440P Monitor and HDMI on TV, it's def not the signal. Something weird is going on lol.

I might go back to first bios, you think that's worth a try?

yh I would, you can flash back n forth to any bios version you want

no windows screens either? or just no gigabyte/bios screens?

try to enter bios with spare kb if you have one

This time it showed the Gigabyte splash screen, with 'A2' in the bottom right of the screen, it went past that screen then had a '-' in top left and 'A9' in bottom right of the screen. Just blank display after that same thing..

Will try and find out what 'A2' means next, when I go to sleep, will take battery out and leave overnight like you mentioned..

Fun times

Thanks for your help wazza :)

np,its something silly I bet

always the same with new chipsets/bios's

It's alive !

After all of that I think it was some weird HDD conflict ! :D

Found that if I booted with no drives connected I could get into bios. Changed everything around and re sat it all. Am finally able to get back into Bios and boot into Windows. I'm guessing when I flashed with the drives connected as they were it didn't finish and corrupted.

Thank you for your help bud, I had given up earlier tbh. When you said about Q flash with no memory that gave me a glimmer of hope it could be saved lol, I was already looking at other mobo's :D

Thank you Wazza :)

Did you load optimised defaults before you flashed the bios? or leave an overclock on?

Yeah it was all at default, I flashed in Q-Flash via bios with all the HDD's all plugged in, I had noticed that I couldn't get into bios the day before, usually frantically pressing DEL would get me in so it's always been touchy..

When I finally managed to re flash bios he last time it was only with no drives in place, as soon as I plugged them back in it would freeze on boot up again.

Re sat everything changed the cables around and all seems fine now. Bios / Windows.

must have been some weird conflict, maybe something went onto IDE mode, I have no idea, but it's working :D
