Why did these have to come out now lol.
Just spent over £1000 on a monitor and speakers alone and now im feeling the itch with these if the upgrade is worth it.
Running a i5 3570k @ 4.6 at the moment. Im curious how much of a difference ddr4 + board + cpu would make.

The difference in benchmarks and E-Peen will be huge ! :D

I'll be in for a 5820k or 5930k depending on how they overclock and informed thoughts on the fewer number of lanes.

+1

The wait is killing me :D

If I order I want it for delivery tomorrow? Not sure if anywhere will be doing Saturday delivery so late in the afternoon , NDA end isn't until around 4-5pm..

Mines coming next week hopefully, not all items in stock yet. Really busy for next week anyways so realistically wouldn't have found time to put it together.

Gigabyte X99 UD4
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666mhz
Intel i7 5820K

£647, bargain imho ! My 4790K and Z97 on MM after next week then :D

Nice summary, could almost mistake it for a plant post. ;)

Gear arrived today, thanks Overclockers shipping late afternoon. Even if couple of the boxes are a tad on the worse side for wear....

Nice one, Look forward to your results :)

That's why I have a huge basket of water cooling items ready :D

Haha, nice one.

This new project of mine is gonna be nice :D

So far,

Intel i7 5820K (Corsair H105 Cooler)
Gigabyte X99 Ultra Durable 4
Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666Mhz
MSI Geforce GTX 780 Ti Gaming OC
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
Barracuda 2TB
Cooler Master: 850W Silent Pro
Cooler Master: CM 690 III

Man it's gonna feel like forever waiting for the new parts to arrive :D

Very nice :) doing a build log?

Cheers, no not for this one. So busy for next couple weeks I won't have much time. Gonna try and put in the bits when I get a chance. Not sure when it will be done, CPU not in stock either so might be week after next. When not so busy will post some benchy's etc when all finished.

Looking forward to seeing other peoples setups and results. Guessing people still waiting on parts.

Good balanced spec I think.

Cheers 8 Pack.

Torn between the 5820k or the 5930k, can't bloody decided at all.

Don't think I'll be using more than two cards in the future so other than the pci lanes, is there any other difference between the two?

The main difference that counts is about a £180 saving between the two chips. The 5930K has 100mhz higher stock clock and 12 extra PCI Lanes, apart from that it's the same.

The 5820K 28 lanes won't hinder two GPU's at all. I mean people run two GPU's with the 16 lane 4770K / 4790K and have no problems.

I would get the 5820K and let money saved go towards the system memory so it's less of a burden. The 5820K is blinding value.

The 5820k is a fantastic CPU at a very appealing price, ruined because of the prices of DDR4.

+1 to this, DDR4 price is a bit of a pity, because otherwise there is hardly anything in the price between this and a Z97 setup.

I guess the only consolation with buying DDR4 is that you're buying into something that will become the new standard, so in it's longevity will still mean you get your moneys worth of use out if it.

For those looking for DDR3, there will 32GB kit going on MM very soon :D

ALX shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Why would an X99 rig owner using two cards be doing 1080p??

Get yourself a decent X99 rig then play your games!! posting here NO NEED!!! Infact posting at all NO NEED!!

:D

Bid you gents farewell for a bit, gonna be offline for probably at least a week. House move, no internet until it gets switched over lol. Hopefully when I get back on there will be some nice pics and benchmark from you guys.

See y'all later (:
