it's not that brilliant voltage wise a lot of the good overclokers do 4.6ghz @ 1.25v
I read someone saying they couldn't even get 4.3ghz even at 1.35 though lol I'd imagine thats about the worst overclocking haswell you could possibly get
4.5ghz @ 1.28v is probably in the the good - very good range.
on another forum someone claimed they had 4.8ghz at 1.3v which I'd guess would be about as good an overclocker as you can get

I'm not trying to put you down or anything I'm sure you far from fine tuning your oc and you have already achieved a very respectable result that I'm sure most people on this forum would settle for if they had a choice between your cpu and a random one from the lottery pile at ocuk

It's "mostly" stable at 4.3Ghz, 1.35v, i.e. for everyday tasks, but still fails stress tests pretty quickly. 4.2Ghz is the most I can do, and I need over 1.3v just for that.I'm strongly considering getting rid of the chip and finding another. But, since it's a crap clocker, I'm looking at losing a fair chunk of change if I sell it on.
If I could guarantee a good clocker then I'd do it in an instant, but there's no guarantee that I won't "lose the silicon lottery" with the second chip either.

You know, the very first CPU that I bought for myself was a Pentium II 300Mhz. Saved up all my paper round and odd-job cash for a year to buy the system I wanted. Amazing chip, even if it did look like a brick:
Now that chip would do well over 500Mhz and was rock solid, which was completely unheard of at the time. I never found anyone on the internet with a better clocking chip, although admittedly overclocking was nowhere near as popular at the time (fiddling with motherboard jumpers to set clockspeeds!). Anyway, I absolutely lucked out with that beast, but ever since I've had dog chip after dog chip. My previous "best" chip was probably the i7-930 I just got rid of, which would do a maximum of ~3.9Ghz stable if I put enough voltage through it - hardly anything to write home about! I even spent a ridiculous amount of cash on an AMD FX-55 in 2004, which also turned out to be an appalling clocker.
I sometimes think that I got all my CPU karma back in 1998, and have been paying for it ever since!
EDIT: If it's any help to anybody, the details of my "dog of dogs" chip are:

Hopefully this will help others avoid falling into the same trap. Temperatures aren't bad for the voltage going through it, but it just doesn't do stability at high clockspeeds.

unfortunately I moved out of notts over 10 years ago.
I'm happy with 4ghz and I'm doing that at 1.157 and that's the lowest I ever tried, I did 3.8ghz stock.
It's kind of a shame for what could be a potentially good ocing cpu sitting wasted in my pc @ 4ghz
apparently never higher than the core clock , I've heard of people at 4.6ghz leaving it at 40 but I do not know if it's considered safe to go higher than that.
I'm at 40x core , 40x uncores personally because I'm sure the guide I read when I did my oc said to set them the same as the core

most setting are fine on auto,the main ones to manually set are cpu/offset,uncore,dram v and cpu llc setting imo
maybe lower pll voltage to 1.65v all else should be ok on auto,manually set cpu multi to your oc 46x ect thats all I do on z77

cpu offset seems to be grey out atm in my BIOS, what should that be set at, say for example your cpu volt is 1.250??
Have noticed theres an option thats listed as 'Performance Boost' in the Advanced Freq Settings, can select from, Auto, Medium, High, Turbo, Ultra, and Extreme. I never know what i should set this as when OC'ing??

you have to set cpu voltage to normal on gigabyte boards,then dvid(cpu offset) becomes unlocked
you need to find your stock/default cpu voltage when set to normal in bios and add + or - dvid to add or take off extra amount at load,llc will add more voltage to the cpu ontop of dvid aswell so add only tiny amounts

I think theres just one for cpu vcore llc,cpu vrin is a different setting
look in system infor page to see stock cpu voltage
and remember llc will raise cpu voltage a lot from what it says in the bios so I would start with low amounts of dvd +0.010 ect,then check to see what the amount is cpu v being used while stressed,look in cpu-z

The only option i can find for llc is, 'CPU VRIN Loadline Calibration' thats the same setting right? It doesnt give a enable or disable option though, it offers Auto, Normal, Standard, Low ,Medium, High, Turbo, Extreme, its set to 'Auto' atm. Not sure what this should be set at, to just enable llc.
