Hopefully someone can help a very desperate man out here. I have this setup that I built myself, i7 5930K, 32ddr4, 2x sdd, GTX1080ti Seahawk, MSI x99a mobo, antec 850 psu (which is 9yrs old).

I fitted my new 1080ti as a replacement for my old 970 and instantly noted a much longer system start up speed. I never paid it much thought however.

Last night, I used MSI afterburner to increase the voltage and boost clock speed by a small increment (+30). This work really well with a max temp of 50 degrees Celsius and improved FPS.

Now this morning my computer wouldn’t turn on. The 1080 LED flashed for millisecond then nothing. I then removed 1080 and mobo battery replaced them and still no luck. Next step, I removed 1080 and replaced with an old pci e card and the rig booted as normal. I proceeded to reset windows deleting Afterburner in the process.

I replaced the old card with the 1080 and still millisecond flash of LED and nothing. Interesting when I remove the two 8 pin cables but have 1080 fitted in PCI-e I get power on shown by fully lit LED.

Pleading with the PC tech byte community here. Can anyone help me figure out if my new card is fried?

Thanks!

Thanks Guys. I’ll hold off on the RMA for now as a last result. :-).

I’ll invest in a new PSU. I totally agree it’s in need of a replacement.

Once I test this out I’ll report back here with the results.

Thanks Pocah. Can I put it to the thread commenters here and ask for recommendations for a new PSU?

I am prepared to invest in this piece of kit so please feel free to make any suggestion for any buget.

Thanks again all!

Thanks guys. I have some news. Following advice I bought a Cosair 750w. Plugged in my graphics card and...it went on fire. Not metaphorically but real spark am smoke.

Guess that I’ve truly fried it. Any suggestions about to do next will be greatly appreciated. Today is a bad day

Thanks guys. After a phone call they've agreed to refund in full. They've also asked if there was any damage to the computer.

Since the fire, I've replaced the faulty card with a Geforce GT 730 1gb. Super reliable little card :)

Only problem my computer won't boot up with my complete RAM set up. I have a MSI X99A SLI Plus Mobo. 32gb DDR4 (4x8gb) 2400MHZ, which is two chips either side of the CPU. Now the only way that I can get my PC working is by removing slots 3 & 4 keeping them empty.

Is this a sign of mobo damage?

Cheers again for your help guys.

I still have time to send back the 750W. Looking at the setup below, is 750 enough for this?

Here's my rig: Thermaltake Core P5, i7 5930K, MSI X99A, 32 gb DDR4 Corsair 2400MHZ, GTX 1080ti Seahawk, Thermal take pacific water pump, Corsair HX750i PSU
