I have been a gamer ever since I built my first rig.
The first game I lost my life to was probably Diablo 2. I had played a couple of Spora games before then with friends which I spammed pretty hard. Then, like many others on the board, I got heavily involved with the Counter-Strike series. Just as I started playing 1.6, Source came out. Joined a clan, became massively addicted (and pretty good!) joined a team, LANned, the lot. I basically lost my high school social life to this game and would always turn down social events in favour of a good PCW.
Alongside playing CS:S I started playing GW2 with a couple of IRL friends who I had played D2 with. This too sucked some of my soul out through my eyeballs
and stole many a late nights from me.
The next chapter in my gaming career began when I started university, or just before. World of Warcraft. Bad timing indeed! I dropped out the first year at uni and picked it up a year later. I was a bit more mature and managed to balance things a bit better.
Recently I haven't really been playing much at all. I've tried various other MMOs: Conan, Rift, Aion etc. and always end up back in WoW doing nothing but camping that damned Time Lost Proto Drake. I have tried LoL, DotA2, Diablo 3
() and am just about to try GW2.
My problem is, nothing seems to capture my passion for gaming like any of the other games I've played before has. I think it might be partly down to not really having anyone to play with. Most of my mates play DotA2 and I really can't get into it so there must be another reason.
Anyone feel the same way? Have I lost my passion for gaming?
