Have you ever been in a street fight/comfrontation?

I think that's an old rumour that relates to boxing and boxers needing to register themselves to get a license. Imagine every time a squadie got into a **** up fight, they were hauled before the courts as technically, they are lethal weapons given the training they receive which specific purpose is simply to kill.

I think you're more likely to win a case arguing excessive use of force than assault with a deadly weapon (for bare hands). And that again depends on how much force you use to resolve the problem. It's one thing to hit someone and drop them and walk away, it's another to hit someone, drop them, then proceed to kick their head around like a football (which I had the displeasure of being on the receiving end of).

Squaddies don't get taught deadly punching techniques, I have friends in the forces and they only get trained to use weapons. The only time I've heard of fighting is something in para regiment where you get locked in a room for a minute and go hell for leather with another guy. But that's not really being trained with your fists. I found this:

Name: Ricky, Hackney
Qualification: Former kick-boxer
Answer: When I used to do kick-boxing, my Sensei was out with his wife and he got into a fight with someone who was picking on his wife. He beat three of them up and in court, he got done for using a lethal weapon – his fists.

In these threads you never hear any stories about people being at the receiving end of a knock out punch

Never received it, but saw a mate take a total leg-crumpler of a sucker punch once. While trying to talk his way out of a fight. :D

Never been floored myself, ever. Been in a few fist fights in high school, but walked away in the better shape afterwards. Got sucker punched once during a mugging, but had little reaction to it, thankfully.

I think I'd prefer to see some news articles or court documents of someone specifically jailed/prosecuted for using their fists as lethal weapons, as opposed to a random comment with no citations on the internet.

There's a lot of talk on the internet about is it / isn't it. But I've never seen anything about anyone specifically being jailed for using their fists as a deadly weapon.

The most infamous is Mike Tyson, but I don't think he was ever jailed for using his hands as a deadly weapon. Charged maybe. But I don't think it ever stuck.

What were you doing with a gun in a public park then? Or is that why you have Thug under your name :p

Minding my own bloody business is what! Unlike the 2 other punks and the at least 1 ex punk.

Will try to get the Thug changed to Hitman :p

Had a few kickings and gave a few but no confrontations that ended up physical since i hit 20ish and moved a long time ago. Growing up in Parkhead wasn't fun.

Not sure what i'd do nowadays if things got nasty, beer belly would probably get in the way if i tried to fight now tbh :p

That's not really a fight though. Hitting someone before giving them the chance to react is just a sucker punch really.

Which is what you want in a confrontation. A fair fight is for a consensual contest in a ring. If someone imposes a confrontation on you, cheat and rig it in your favour as much as possible.

I think that the best self defence advice I've heard is "kick them in the knee and run away".

Nope, never. Been mugged once, but never in a fight. I also don't get quite what some people are doing to end up in them all the time, it's never seemed massively difficult to diffuse a situation or walk away before it gets to that stage.
