Hazro series - HZ30Wi, HZ30WiQ, HZ27WA, HZ27WB & HZ27WC

maybe i just had a faulty one then because mine was doing it on loads of different sites to different degrees and sound pitches. Or maybe im just an OCD loser who picks up on everything lol

you liking it then carl? :) lucky you've got one with no faults. Pretty sublime picture isnt it

It's not bad!!! ha

Not noticed any high pitched sounds from the monitor while viewing any website. So far so good.

The only issue i have is the no bios/post screen but i knew this might happen on my old card. Although i have seen a post by Harzo saying x1950 arn't effected by this.......mine is!!!

I ideally need to upgrade so this will be my next purchase. Well it was my first but had to many issues with a MSI 6970 so went for new screen!

What a suprise that you get no BIOS even when hazro have stated your GFX isn't effected, they don't know whats going on because I still beleave this issue is not related to AMD's cards.

Still we will never find out. Also why should you be forced to by a new GFX card because your monitor doesn't display a BIOS? I would say that its down to Hazro to fix this or chase AMD and resolve it. This of course doesn't happen and probably won't happen.

Not really forced because of the BIOS issue but forced because my X1950XTX doesn't give me the fps i need.

Although it would be handy to see my bootup process on screen just encase!

guys can i just ask a question about the glass covered hazros........even if they arrive without dust or particles behind the glass is there a still a chance it can bet behind there from daily use or is the front fully sealed?

Yes.
The 20" NEC suffered this over time, but its not somethign which has ever bothered me.

You either want glass or you don't to be honest, if glass is a must then the odd bit of dust will never be an issue.

thanks gibbo. is the only thing that glass brings to the table is that it looks more aesthetically pleasing? There'd be no other advantages would there?

Exactly. Glass is just preference. Some people say it looks more vibrant with the glass, but I don't see how. It's just a piece of glass.

Gibbo or anyone else with the knowledge ...
hazro spoke about 2 new 30 inch displays coming out
1 that will be listed here and another at their site in the near future ...

"OCUK will take delivery of our new 30" models in the next week or so. The model number is HZ30WiE and features a new Aluminium bezel with Steel back and a fully adjustable stand. The panel is 10bit Ultra Wide Gamut capable of 1.07billion Colors. Input is limited to Dual Link DVI and we've chosen an expensive external adapter over internal PSUs due to heat and high pitched noise issues (which have plagued other branded 30" displays). Price is to be set by OCUK but it will be £750~£800 delivered.

The same model is available in a 8bit version (Wide Gamut with 16.7million Colors) which will be available directly from us at a price of £650~£700. This has a model number of HZ30WiF."

What is the difference between these?
- whats the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit? and the color gamut?
- Is the 8 bit better for gaming?

This was never really intended as a consumer monitor. The product evolved with demand from the print industry for a 16:10 wide gamut monitor with a large viewing area. Both the HZ30Wie and HZ30Wif are wide gamut displays and there really isn't much in it. Our discerning business customers (mainly those printing in CMYK) and for those who consider ROI, Cost of ownership etc. as a purchasing factor, we'd recommend whichever is cheaper on the day. For everybody else, we'd say go for 10bit because....10>8 (and (unfortunately) thats how peripherals are often marketed in the consumer domain). In our experience, very few organizations work in a 10bit workflow and bizarrely, a few that do, end up printing proofs/finished work in sRGB. If 10bit is really important and you have a DP>Dual-Link DVI adapter, we'd recommend the HZ30WiE.

Is the 8 bit better for gaming?
Technically, neither has any advantage over the other for gaming. Both are 'by-pass' models meaning scalers are not used for image reproduction. Calibrating 10bit maybe trickier especially when getting it to conform to lower gamut color spaces. AdobeRGB on ultra wide gamut panels such as the HZ30WiE may produce better results but we doubt it will be noticeably different on the 8bit HZ30WiF.

thanks for the info - so in order to get the most out of the 10bit you need a dp to dvi adaptor ie from gpu to the monitor? - was reading about dp and not really understanding why its better to this then a straight dual link dvi.
