HD 7000-series GPUs which are reportedly scheduled to make their entrance on December 5

Any idea of a timescale?

Tempted to go for a GTX560Ti if I don't hear anything concrete...

It won't, there is no launch today or this month just as I told you all last week.......

I don't think anyone's expecting a launch, i'm not - I just expect some kind of news or announcement from AMD/ATI.

There will be nothing or we've not been informed of anything happening regarding 7xxx.

I'm really interested if this has the performance increase worthy of a new line of GPU. Like the RV770 XT was over R600 XT/R670 XT (when AMD adopted software to handle AA whilst Nvidia got a helping hand by DX/Microsoft on Vista so maybe a bad comparison as AMD got the short straw on that). R580 over the R423 & R480 is a better comparison. If it's like this then I can't wait as I've had this card for a year now. I did want to go to Nvidia for a change but if they've not got anything new out soon then I won't be waiting.

I stopped reading DM posts a long time ago, all he seems to post is long winded tripe and it gets boring tbh.

A nice way to debate.......

Obviously it's just sour grapes on your part as at least he's adding something valuable to the conversation while all you've done is just added your personal feelings which is relevant only to............................... you. Also, your contribution is short winded tripe and was very boring to read and to reply to. :p Merry Christmas and all that jazz :D.

Cry.. ive had my fair share of debates and it gets you nowhere, lots of trolling and leading back to square one, that is all.

Speculation, arguing, faked benchmarks ati is this nvidia is that blah blah, and people with long winded posts on the subject, when the card comes out that's when the true debate starts until then it's pointless talking about it, unless new truth comes to light before said cards or any other hardware is released.

Edit, you see what's happening already.. I'm out kthnxbye.

Fair enough but it's also pretty easy to see what people have stated in edumicated guesstimation and what has transpired to see who exactly is on point when they talk. If DM was correct or say 85% of what he has said has came true, would you still hold that same view knowing that he's been on the ball or is it personal?.

Numbers and statistics can really show if someone is full of hot air on a public forum ;). I hope someone has the time or care to do just that, go over famous DM guesses and work out his accuracy :D. I'm joking of course but I would be slightly interested in seeing that. I personally think DM does know what he's on about but is slightly biased towards AMD as a company even though he hosts both Nvidia and AMD in his machines.

Sorry, your edit wasn't in my initial quote from you.

I agree, instead of arguing then we should just wait and see, debate is healthy as long as it's reasonable and done by two people who give and show respect when given the same in return. If only it were that easy :).

As you already know, AMD planned to ship the cards in the first week of December as holiday shopping is always a nice timeframe for a launch. Unfortunately, TSMC is the one to blame as we are hearing that even the yields of the 40nm HD 6900 series are still not great and TSMC is also the reason why HD 7000 got pushed to early-January shipping date, or in time for CES 2012.

Jesus, its the same old same old, some random Nvidia loving site gets wind of a almost always PRIVATE, NDA COVERED, NOT LAUNCH event where press are giving details about an upcoming launch, then they decide to broadcast this insinuating this is a launch date.

Then 99% of forum members half read a half story when someone half bothers to comment on the link they dropped on here, and half the world becomes convinced there is a launch, then gets all angry and bitter at "another delay" by AMD, when it wasn't ever anything in the first place.

Press events to give details to press/reviewers not that long before launch has been common for 15 years, the first press event I went to was for one of these covering the 9800 pro IIRC, (or if people can figure out when the 3200XP launched and what AMD card came out in that time period as that is when I was working for review sites).

I wouldn't be surprised if after today a few more details leak and you get a higher percentage of matching stories from different sources, also things like eyefinity, IE, new features tend to slip out in leaks from this point onwards.

Official launch, nope, potentially some official points, possibly, actual launch of anything, nope.

/waits for Softpedia's "its been delayed a month" story in the next day or two.

Well I for one realised this is not a launch, It may also not be fully factual... I thought everyone realised it will be Q1 2012 for launch for the good stuff although I read some notebook chips should be around this month !

Maybe the thread title has confused some ?

We usually here nothing from those press days until the reviews come out- it's all under NDA until then. Leaks usually pop up somewhere, but probably not until closer to launch.

Stuff starts leaking out pretty soon after tbh, no matter the NDA you always get someone who can resists dropping some subtle hints.

AMD 7000 launch will be CES or very close to it folks.

So that is the date to shoot for.

AMD will be as annoyed as everyone else to miss the xmas stocking sales but that was TSMC.

See you all in january.

Like I told you all last week.

No new 7xxx series today or this month, its January as I've been telling you all along.

Calm down Gibbo mate. It's this kind of speculation that drives demand and sales.

Plus we're just a hopeful bunch that you might have got it wrong. :p

Now, the $1m question - wait for these or get a GTX560Ti? :o
