HD2900 pro overclocking thread.

Arg, looks like my PSU isn't up to the job :(

33A on the 12V, but it keeps restarting just as my desktop gets loaded.

Switched back to my X1800XT, so it must be a power issue :(

Time to buy a new PSU methinks...

Did you uninstall the old drivers and then boot into safe mode and run driver cleaner before you changed card.

Could be the old drivers as the card doesn't draw much power until 3D mode kicks in

Increased my GPU and Memory to XT speeds and my 3DMark 06 went from 9381 to 10,770...

Thats ok i suppose? I ended up using the AMD GPU Clock Tool as I couldnt get ATI Tool to work for some reason :S
 
Hi, sorry to butt in on this thread but I wondering what kind of benchies I could expect from a crossfire setup. I've got anothe Pro arriving today and wondering what performance gain I'll get over a single card. They won't be oc'd at the moment but I might look into that later when I got some good aftermarket coolers fitted.

Flash them both to XT speeds like I did and I get just under 17,500 3dMark06 with a near identical setup to yours. Thats with the Q6600 running at 3.5 G

Nice work :) Have you tried clocking them to say 800/900(1800) yet? What sort of figures you getting in 3Dmark 06? (You may need to do a fix to get it working with the 2900 series though).

how would one of these compare to a slightly overclocked x1900xt please ?

I play FSX and some other games - but on my 24 inch Dell @ 1900x1200 the 1900xt starts to struggle when I start applying FSAA and AF

?
 
I've whacked an XT bios on mine, seems to be running fine although I've not had a chance to try 3D Mark on it yet. Runs Stalker, oblivion and HL2 nicely, a huge improvement over my X800XT. Next step is my 2180, going to try and squeeze some extra out of that, just annoyed I forgot a better HSF when I ordered my new system.
