HDD bay Bungee mod

This is all well and good if you have a 525 bay with the holes to do it this method wouldn't work on any of my cases simply because the holes aren't that great and don't come near the back.

It's worth considering that silverstone bay for £18 comes with 3x ft01/2 style hdd enclosures with good dampening.

This is what i did with some 3mm bungie cord in my FT02.
My Samsung F3 was making a horrible drone even with the rubber gromets on the HDD screws + padding under the case. It was loud enough that people in the next room couldnt sleep with it on

I left my 2 drives in the hot swap bay thingys and threaded the cord through them.

Quiet as a mouse now :)

sorry if this is a stupid question, but, what is this mod for? only thing i can think of is noise reduction? it looks pretty good aswell though :D

correct on both counts, and without wishing to cause offence if you're asking what the purpose of a mod is then you're perhaps in the wrong place

Wont be quite the same but it could work. You just have to make sure you secure the drive to the laces and not rely on tension.

I can highly recommend o-ring cord for suspending drives because it doesn't perish like rubber bands.

Here's my effort, using p clips and ~10mm o-ring cord. Not pretty but totally silences the drive and that's what counts!

This is very cool, it reminds me of shock mounts for microphones! :) Spare microphone shock mount rubber bands would be pretty perfect for this!
