Ok so basically i have just bought a external hdd off the MM and i ran HD Tune on it and it came back with 18 unstable errors....Is this fine? as i had hoped to use it as a OS hdd in my new pc.
Or is it best as a storage drive?
Thanks

That is what came up on the actual HD tune error test:

Personally I would not use it if any errors were reported, as there could be a problem with the drive.

I would speak to the person and see if you can RMA the drive.

I'd retest it with HDTune and see if the warnings are still being shown.

If they still persist then send screen shots to the seller and demand he RMA it for you or give you a refund. If he says no, open a paypal dispute.

Ok i have contaced him and he has offered a refund. I will run a HD tune test now then will take him up on his offer of a refund.
I just Ran a quick test and it was fine. Should I run a full one?

either send it back to the guy who sold it to you, let him RMA it, if the warranty is not transferable.

or do it yourself if the warranty is transferable.

not a clue if you should take it out of the enclosure

Ok, How do i know if the warranty is transferable, I have completed all stages so far and now its telling me where to send it to etc so i dont think it matters?

not a clue how to find out about the warranty.

I just wouldnt use this harddrive for anything more than propping a door open in this heat

lol ok well i have contacted the seller to see what he says but by the sounds of it i can just do it myself, I am also going to ring samsung and see if i can send it in its enclosure.
Thing is i run a HD Tune test and it says 18 'unstable' errors but CHKDSK comes back with nothing?

Personally id take it out of the enclosure and try it in your PC to see if you get any errors. If the enclosure is dying it could cause the errors.

HDtune just reads the information from th SMART chip on the drive controller. Try and rma it if you can, errors on any drive are bad news
