He Man remake is coming in july on netflix

Ultimately it is about Greyskull and the power sword. Part 2 will be great after the way it ends.
Not interested in part 2, the story is dead. They actually killed Adam twic within 5 episodes lmao, how far off the mark do you have to be.
This come after watching invincible. Even the animation was terribly low quality in parts.

They've tried to expand on the other characters in the universe and give them more screen time. Not just make it all about Adam and He-Man.
Then perhaps market it that way. Not say its directly about He Man and have all the promotional material with heman centre stage. And even if the story is about Tela, then they have done an even worse job of alluding to her eventual fate.

Why do any of you care? It's a Primary school childrens cartoon.

Well its really built on the nostalgia backs of 40 something men, nothing to do with kids.
Everyone knew it was gonna be a gender roles, man hating 2020s version.
Everything you loved as an 80s/90s kid is gonna be recycled, gender bent and characters vilified to show you that you're a terrible male adult.

Yeah i don't really care as i wont be watching it. However there's a great deal of nostalgia money to be earned for things done right.

Ive not watched the original, I watched the 2000s reboot so things are a little different for me and I have no idea of the past history in this. I'm on ep2, im getting into the storyline, I like the slight change from magic to tech
I really like it, the graphics are excellent, Im SO glad they did non do a cartoon network style rebook (thundercats roar I haded the look) ive hated most of the reboots taking great properties and making them with poor graphics and storyline.

They did bring that back but it was crap, they updated the characters and all sorts. If they bring thundercats back properly i.e no reimagining or remakes but a true continuation then id be interested. They really need the old voice actors too. I cant stand replaced voice actors for certain leading characters.

A reboot cartoon which looks like that is also coming to Netflix at something.

I really enjoyed it, I think they did a good job of looking at the most interesting parts of the original cartoon.

I also liked that they played with the trope from the old show, where in almost every episode back in the day something would happen that put he-man out for a bit, then the new character would come in, so that they could show off more of the toys, then right at the end He-man would come back and save the day.

It also is clearly aimed at finishing Teelas story from the old cartoon. Which I can't wait to see.

Spoilers I guess, for an almost 40 year old cartoon.

The old cartoon had very few on going story threads, as a big part of what they were doing required each episodes to be self contained and basically reset to the status quo after each episode. But the few things that did happen was Teelas origin, the 2nd episode ever aired of the original, Teelas quest, along with the episodes "origin of the sorceress" and "Teelas triumph" all touched on it. And a big part of it was that Adam, Man at arms, Orko and the sorceress all know about who teela actually is, and they are keeping it from her. And not just not telling her, they actually wipe her memory at one point to stop her from knowing it. They tell Teela that she's guarding Adam, but really He-mans main reason for existing is to protect her.

I'm so glad they are going in this direction with the story.

What I don't understand is the people saying its "woke". Maybe I just don't understand what woke means. I thought it meant cramming unnecessary PC moralizing into a story with little or nothing to do with the plot or characters of the story. And like they literally did that at the end of each of the old cartoons. And there's like none of that here. If any thing this story does a lot more, "everything is grey, work out your own moral" which seems like the opposite of woke?

So what exactly did they add to Teela story? Apart from make her a self entitled, selfish, butch lesbian, who's not very likeable?

I don't think they did any of that, and they've not released the conclusion yet. So I can't say for sure. but it looks as though they are leading to her fulfilling her destiny, or at least learning about it.

What they have done so far is give her the "revelation" that all of the people closest to her have been lying to her for her whole life, which sent her to a very dark place, and she then has the opportunity to grow and pull herself out of it. Which I thought was pretty good.

Parents in front of her just after hearing their son has died*
" ohh you lied to be for a very obvious reason, screw the fact you just lost son a champion this is about MEEEEEEEE"
Yea, this could have been done a million different better ways, but nah, let make it about the one main female character turning into an entitled stroppy mood donkey.
Then goes on to "deny all magic" You live on a planet whereit has been explained to you since birth that without it everyone you know including yourself will die if its not balanced and preserved.
Have Adam look like he hasn't ate a royal meal in years and make him kinda weird personality that for some reason his dad isnt impressed by any more?..what was that about?
Dont ever rmemeber the King being an Ahole, even the whole " Banishing" his people made absolutely no sense and didnt make the story any different.
Its like someone wrote a description of the original series and ran it through google translate multiple times.

There's a very simple answer to that. There are people on here who consider a woman even daring to exist in media to be some kind of outrageous feminist attack on the way things should be. :D

They're the same ones who complain about new Star Trek series being too 'woke' despite that being a central tenet of the property all the way back to TOS.

Lot to go though here. Whats do you think the very obvious reason is? Because the actual reason why she didn't know, but her father, best friend, local clown and their pet did was because of who she really is. And they are keeping that from her still.

Adam was meant to be 15 years old. He looked the way he did in the original cartoon because it was cheaper that way. Im quite glad that netflix actually bothered to pay some animators this time round.

She spent her whole life being actively prevented from knowing about the real magic of eternia. As I said before they actually wiped her memory the one time she did learn about it.

I like how in the same arguement you say it was wrong of teela to yell at the king and Queen because they have just lost thier son, and then say that the king shouldn't have been so upset about it. Seems like those 2 cancel each other out somewhat

Edit. Just quickly on her abandoning everything. Its not like the show presents that as the right thing to do. Its clearly bad, and she spends the rest of the show having to make up for it.

Thats kind of what the whole show is. Her making up for the fact that she got angry and lost it.
