healthy Eating!

chicken doesn't go stringy if wrapped in tin foil and oven cooked, my girlfriend is really fussy with chicken - she won't eat it if it's stringy or crispy so wrapping in tin foil so it cooks in its own juices is the only way she'll eat it, makes it nice and moist.

Although her favourite way is a pyrex dish filled with some sort of marinade, couple of chicken breasts put in there and tin foil on the top then chucked in the oven

Very interesting! Although it says that trying to lose > 4 lbs a week is unhealthy...

That sounds like a challenge!

If you diet the first week or two you will probably easily lose this. As burning a certain type of energy releases water. Thiws happens before you start losing fat.

A lb of fat is about 3500 calories.

weekly average should be around 17500 calories and you would have to under eat by a massive 14000 calories a week. Which as you can see isn't any good for you.

Eat lean meat, plenty of greens, don't go mad with potatoes.. bumloads of carbs and starch will hinder weight loss. Go wholemeal for pasta, rice and bread, but try and cut down bread. Other options for bread are "flat" breads. I.e. those that don't rise like Pita, Tortilla (not the crap Old El Paso make..) etc.

Man, when it is put like that I *am* a fat bboy!!!

I weigh 216.05 lbs or about 100 kilos. Its pretty stable atm, but I'd like to lose weight... just to get my confidence up around girls if anything. Losing weight is actually technically hard!!

Edit out the sweary mate ;)

Yep it's so easy to over eat by thousands of calories a day. But to try to under eat by loads of calories a day is very hard. That's why most success comes from watching what your eating along with gym/exercise.

FACT: Healthy stuff doesn't fill you up.

I sort of know what you mean. You do feel full, but you feel full in a different way.

If you eat masses of curry or pizza with garlic bread, you feel stuffed. If you eat a lot of wholemeal pasta or rice you still feel full, but in a satisfied, less bloated way. You don't feel like you're going to explode.

It's actually incredibly easy once you calculate your daily calorific needs. Then you just eat under that.

I am sure I am eating under the daily amount of calories you should have and not finding it hard at all, but then again I dont know how much things like the dinners at home I have such as sunday dinner.

Allthough I usually eat what I want, I dont eat crap like KFC and Mc Donalds, but really as long as you do excercise then eating what you like should not be a problem imo.

I think it's more difficult if you're at home or being cooked for. If you cook for yourself the majority of the time you can really control things far more effectively.

I didn't realise that was a swearword, but hey I am an ignorant fool without children.

I'm not bothered, but i was just trying to save you from the wrath of the mods :)

I'm having real issues with this at the moment. Sometimes when I do finish eating I feel awful and get really bad trapped wind and pain like I am really bloated. I don't over-eat or anything, and I tend to eat quite healthily. Could I be allergic to something?

Sounds to me like something's just not agreeing with you. Maybe have meals without so many carbohydrates in them [a real bugger if you like pasta or rice]. Or does this happen whatever you eat?

I try and eat in the morning as I know thats a must and its bad not to, but any ideas why if I eat on a morning after I have woke up I feel sick or really cant eat much?, I cant get enough food through the day/night.

I've been using thedailyplate.com which seems pretty good, the only thing I find hard to figure out how many calories it is are evening meals :(

Yesterday I ate something like 3.2k calories but because I did a lot of exercise my net was actually something like 1400!!! (I would actually find it hard to eat much more)

It only happens at certain times, certainly not all the time.....What do you think the best course of action is? A food diary possibly?

It's probably best just to take a mental note of what kind of meal it happens after. It may happen after a high-carb meal. If that's the case, take note and lower your carb quantity per week. It may be something else, but you should be able to work it out soon enough.
