Healthy Lunches

where did i say you should seek the advice of a random?

i said the best experts out there are pro bodybuilders. they know exactly what food does what to the body down to every single minor effect. because that is what it takes to be a pro bodybuilder at mr olympia level.

Unless these bodybuilders are nutritianist....then they are random.

Just because Lewis Hamiton can drive a car doesn't mean he can build one.

So you think they randomly get to 5-7% body fat?

They might know how to get muscles, but that doesn't mean they know how to be healthy.

These people used to take steroids! Their image is spray themselves with fake tan thinking brown is healthy...whereas browning of the skin is a way your body protecting itself from the sun, it is a sign that you are getting too much sun. Their aim is vanity, on the surface.

So, I stand by my opinion that these bodybuilders are randoms, because they are not nutritionists or doctors.

We just have to agree to disagree that you believe these muscle chasers, I am happy believing real doctors.

Getting muscles is completely different to having the ability to have 120kg bodyweight and 5% body fat.

it seems like you need to do some research as it doesn't sound like you have a clue what it takes to do that. you would need to know everything about nutrition to hit those standards or have a trainer that does it for you. the tiniest things make big difference for them to be able to drop to that whilst maintaining all that muscle mass and to strip their bodies fo all fat and also to strip their bodies of water, etc. so they look more defined.

the spray tan again is for definition they only do that for the stage you don't see them walking about very day like that. so it's nothing to do with vanity at all.

the people with the best knowledge are professional bodybuilders and their trainers. i'm talking guys who won mr olympia, etc.
...
it's a corrupt industry and therefore these so called experts cannot be believed unless independently verified. neither can the books they publish.

i was at a party with a nutritionist who was studying at uni a year or two back. they were telling me avocados are bad for you and you should only have 1 or 2 a week. which is complete BS. they were blaming it on them being high in fat.

so yeah the books being taught to these experts are still all wrong.

similarly I don't think body builders are necessarily a good reference - since their goals do not correspond to the needs of the most of the population - I want long term body reliability.

I do agree that the Sat fat issue alone is of sufficient significance to indicate a delinquency in the industry and need to question why it arose, and what they have done to rectify it, avoid recurrence, and even present a clear message, now.

Industries eg sugar/fast-food/supermarket still seem to be able to lobby government/politicans to their own ends and the net degradation of public health and increased NHS cost - perverse.
[if Boris or Hunt were raising these issues I could have some new respect]

nutritionist do get wheeled out in tv programmes, without any explanation of their particular qualifications (seems you do need a relevant BSC, but not up to the level of a doctor) and I take what they say with a pinch of salt.
The popularist proliferation of different diets plus associated TV programmes/newspaper articles does nothing either, to give me confidence, in the nutrition industry/legislation.

Exactly how can you trust them when they have fiddled with test results in the past. Rigged the data to suit their agenda and now nobody is coming out and saying all this is wrong, etc.

You still have the majority saying saturated fat is 100% bad.

People being pushed to buy rapeseed oil because guess what manufacturers make the most profit on it

I wanted to bump this thread again, not to continue an argument about Huel, but to get more lunch ideas. At the moment, the only handy 'stick it in a Tupperware pot and reheat at work' meal I have is tuna and wholewheat pasta and salad (well, of course I don't reheat this). What can I add to mince/mince substitute to have with rice and make it tasty?

Any other ideas?

Just brown the mince and chuck in some beans and chopped tomatoes and add whatever spices you fancy. Or brown the mince, fry some peppers and then mix it together and stick them in a tortilla.

What do you normally have for tea? Just do a small extra portion and have that for lunch.

a batch load, for daily consumption, of either green lentils , or quinoa , prepared with softened celery/onion
something like this is what I do
https://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/01/quinoa-vegetable-paella.html
[leaving out
  • 1 14-ounce can light red kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 2 3/4-3 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 medium zucchini halved lengthwise and sliced
]
usually have it cold - uwaves massacre stuff ... add some tinned salmon or sardines by the side too.

edit: assuming a fridge at work

Well, usually Huel, but I don't want to start that argument back up please!

Yeah, not a bad idea. I'm not a fan of peppers or even beans (I'm rather a fussy eater which can make eating healthy quite difficult, but I'm trying to expand my tastes) but could just throw tomatoes in and have that with some wholegrain rice I guess.

Yeah i get that, sorry i didn't realise and thought maybe you were having Huel for dinner and then a regular mean in the evening.

To keep it varied you can mix it up by also having pork and turkey mince (although i prefer pork, find it much easier to digest than beef).

Also maybe just buy a chicken and roast it. That'll easily give you enough chicken for a whole week, then some days you can have pasta, other days rice or even couscous or salad. Particularly good in summer.

Unfortunately, my general not being a fan of veg makes this unlikely.

It's interesting, I find the evening meal much easier to go light on. Sometimes when I cycle for an hour after work, I can almost skip an evening meal even, which I never thought I'd be able to do. I still have a bowl of cereal at bed time mind you.

not sure what you mean - but end product doesn't taste like veg eg. carrots/cruciform ... more like - satisfying carbs ...
don't forget they're making those immitation burgers out of pea protein .. I'd rather have an honest lentil/quinoa than such an ultraproceesed food

I clicked the link and saw the image. I don't think I would eat that is all I'm saying.
