Heat Pumps: anyone have one/thought about it?

Another update. My Arotherm has started making a vibrating noise at full load. Sent my engineer a video, was reported to Vaillant yesterday and Vaillant contacted me today to book an engineer visit on Saturday. Good service at least and as far as I can tell this is a known issue with an agreed fix.

no more than the next guy.. its easy to accredit a video as precis it textually,

Anyway a diametrically opposite mindset and someone who collects some data on how the auto valves perform ....so you can turn a radiator off without messing up balance,

I’ve already covered this above. To reiterate, these vales do not work on modulating heat sources.

The guy is using a fixed flow temperature boiler with a fixed flow rate pump. You have to set these parameters in the app which determines the setting for the valve.

You cannot use these on boilers or heat pumps using weather compensation because your flow temperature is variable and your pump speed is variable.

of course there is some heat leakage room to (colder) room but if the net energy use is less, you are winning (I've got a few internal breeze walls too ]

You may not be winning, you may not be using less energy because you need to run your boiler or heat pump in a less mode to maintain the temperatures in the rooms being heated. It’s entirely possible to use more energy when zoning and turning off single radiators.

Most people think they are ‘winning’ but in reality they are already using their boiler in its least efficient mode (high low temperatures, lots of cycling). They never won because they are spending more money than they should be with a well configured heating system.

Is that the 7kW model?

There's a thread on the Open Energy Monitor forum I've been following, but I'm not aware of a fix.
