Heaven and Hell

So you do have an interest in it.

You may not have a paticular interest in the detail of religion directly, however you do have an interest indirectly.

I am the same with politics, politics bores me, but I hold an interest because it effects me indirectly.

You've missed the point entirely.

You say I have an interest in religion because I talk about it with people, I say I don't because, frankly I don't.

I have an interest in how religion affects my life, none at all about actual religion. Different things. As I said, you definite "interest in a subject" differently.

I dont think even most Christians believe in heaven and hell anymore at least not in the US(too many flaws and holes). They have this new thing where they believe that the bad people just dissappear, get erased from existence.

I haven't missed the point at all, and therein lies the issue of comprehension.

Religion interests you because of your concern about its effect on you personally....whether that is indirectly or not is immaterial...

I understand what you are saying, however I was refering to those who profess no interest whatsoever who either begin or participate in religious discussions simply for the reasons I set out earlier....you hold an interest in how religion may or may not effect you, that is not holding no interest in religion at all, no matter how you define it. You are simply not interested in following or believing in a religion, which is somewhat different to holding no interest in religion. Your interest in religion lies in your concerns about religion. I think the confusion arises from the assumption that 'interest' implies a positive or supportive attitude toward the subject matter, which it does not.

I would be interested in how you can qualify any discussion you have on religion if you take no interest in the subject you are discussing at all? How are you objective or informed in your argument, unless you have taken at least some form of interest in it?

I hold no interest in Cricket, I couldn't discuss it to any degree or with any objectivity because I have no idea of the topic.....I would have to show a modicum of interest to even show concern over how it may effect my life or have any opinion on it whatsoever.
