Heinz - awful products

Kewpie Mayo above all. But it's very expensive, I save it for my favourite dishes as a dib where i can taste more of the flavour and use Hellmann's in things like Tuna Mayo sandwiches.

Will have to try Heinz Mayo.

Heinz is the superior mayo for chips, it almost has a fritesaus flavour to it. For everything else I use Hellmann's.

Ketchup is ketchup, will get whatever is cheapest, its only ever used for bacon sandwiches

Branston beans are superior to the Heinz sugar and salt tripe.

Also, Sainsbury’s own brand ketchup is amazing. Especially on a fried egg sandwich :D

I find Tesco's and Branstons beans far better. I've never really been a.fan of the tins with the sausages in, but the price of beans now is ridiculous. Especially Heinz. We've had Tesco's for the past 4 months and none of the kids even batted an eye at the change.

The soup's something I'll need to check though, I was always a fan of the tomato with black pepper.

Have to say I've always thought similar with Heinz - a slight weird aftertaste with a lot of their stuff which competitor's products don't have. That said a lot of the cheaper alternatives far too often seem to be a case of having worked out the ingredients but not the quantities or methods involved in producing the product - some of the alternative brands I find far superior though.

The beans sausages have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. But again, Branston ones are much better. The sausages are not that pink mush crap.

also, Heinz spag Bol has become totally awful. I had a morrisons one the other day. Over a quid cheaper and tasted like the Heinz one used to taste.

Only tried Heinz beans but do want to try Branston, I just don't have beans very often.

Don't like their ketchup, it's too sweet. Favourite is McDonalds and the closest I have found is Tesco own brand. I like it a bit more vinegary.

I think we get M&S baked beans from Ocado. I have tried Branston and liked them but my other half wasn't sure.

As for sauces, Tiptree is the best. Their ketchup is so flavourful, actually tastes of something rather than vinegar and sugar.

Fascinating how cheesefest manages to turn a simple whinge post about ketchup into passing judgement on other people's lives. Truly inspirational!

Sorry, I've tried various own brand soups, but Heinz is still the absolute winner in all comparable cases. Aldi does come a close second, to be fair, but their range is limited and only does common flavours. Sainsury's soups are hideous cack with poor flavour and nasty aftertastes.

Beans are beans. Own brands are fine, usually. Own brand tins tend not to have ringpulls, but I can use a can opener so I'm fine with that. Same for sweetcorn, peas, spaghetti shapes and all the other stuff kids seem to like.

Ketchup is ketchup, but it seems only Heinz can make bottles that squirt straight. All the others seem to squirt off at a random angle and it gets too messy.

Haven't had Branstons beans for years but I remember them tasting over sweet like they were full of sugar. Maybe they've cut back now

yes HP sauce is Heinz too, prefer the Irish Chef brand, would like to try their ketchup - but Morrisons don't sell it, too.

Don't yet know if the King will keep his Heinz ketchup+HP appointment

My Morrisons deliver the chef ketchup. I’ve had it. It’s not too bad, quite tangy and vinegary, not much sweetness to it.

If you’ve got deep pockets, one of the best ketchups is called Rubies in the Rubble. That’s outstanding. Lovely and thick, not sugary or vinegary, just perfectly balanced flavours.
