Helicopter crashes into Glasgow pub

Was driving through earlier on and wondered what the hell was going on with Police blocking every road off. Bit of a crazy thing to happen, about 10 yards away from the water, could possibly have been aiming for it?

its hard to tell what happened.

no fire, no fuel? but would be able to auto rotate but no auto rotate would suggest gearbox problems.

but as i said earlier you can only speculate.

Jesus. Imagine being 50 yards away from a pub that your friend just walked in to, and then seeing a helicopter drop out of the sky on top of the building... :(

Unfortunately you don't generally walk away from helicopter crashes so I think fatalities are inevitable. Whilst its a city centre pub and a Friday night its a bit of an old mans place and will have had slightly less people in it than the majority of places just a few hundred yards up the road

Its right next door to a whole series of flats which potentially would be even worse. Lots of tarmac around about and the river is literally across the road, as above I wonder if they were making an attempt to get it down either on something flat or ditch it - though from what little info is around it sounds like there may have been no time for that tbh. It does however look like it came in relatively softly

At least the majority of people were able to get out, hopefully there will be more pulled out as they go on.

Maybe they were auto rotating but in trying to reach the water (which looks potentially like what the pilot was trying to do) the rotors lost too much rotational speed and the helicopter dropped.

Looks like there was no fire. Makes me wonder whether it could have had a faulty fuel gauge and simply run out of fuel? That is purely a random thought though and I would have thought the pilot would know roughly how much time he can fly for with x amount of fuel on board. Have to wait to see what the investigators come up with.

Hope there have been no deaths and everyone recovers from their injuries.

might have been aiming for the carpark at King St which is just north of the pub rather than ditch in the water. random thought

another helicopter operated by Bond Air Services though which doesn't look good for them. they are the people behind the ones that ditched in the North sea recently too

The fireman in that BBC video is being so obstructive to the interviewer, most likely trying to play it down for the 'police'

Same could be said for the interviewer, constantly asking questions when the fireman could be doing more important jobs.
