Hellboy

Off to watch Saturday, surprised that's it's only a 15 over here considering it got a R rating in America.

R means anyone under 17 can attend with an adult, so not really the US equivalent of an 18 cert. R will almost certainly get a 15 cert over here.

NC17 is strictly 18 and over. Such films would be more likely to get a 18 cert in the UK.

Maybe the classification board in the US are more strict, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a NC17 film get a 15 cert from the UK classification board. I'd be more surprised to see an R film get an 18 in the UK.

I thought it was alright, felt a little mashed/cut in places. Freind said probably missing 20 mins on the floor, he knows his stuff.
Apparently it sticks to the comics well, nonidea....
It's fun, I like the gore and casual swearing and violence. Lol

American classification is weird.

They care far more about sex, than violence.

From Hannibal.

They even censored the plaque on the side of Pioneer I in a documentary about the probe..

Watched this afternoon and it's a mess of a film, every fight scene was shaky cam to the max, CGI was lacking for the most part when you could see what was happening and not in the darkness of night to hide most of it. The over the top English accents felt way out of place and not how most people talk here these days.

Felt like I was watching Twitch chat with most of the dialogue trying to be edgy with the amount of swear words and one liners.

It's about time the whole comic book genre died a death, just one tedious, repetitive, show/movie after another. It's almost at Star Wars level now, which is still living off a glorious trilogy made 35 years ago. The truth is Star Wars has been **** since Return of the Jedi from NINETEEN EIGHTY THREE, and about 1 in 10 comic book/superhero shows/films are any good.

Or just....don't watch them?

Agree with the need for less comic book films. It's not just the issue of avoiding them, but that they have supplanted the other kind of action film.

In the 90s there were the likes of True Lies, Point Break, Con Air, Face Off, Demolition Man, Speed, The Rock, Bad Boys, Broken Arrow, Independence Day, The Matrix, Ronin, Starship Troopers etc.

00s had Pirates of the Caribbean and that was about it before comic book films took over.

Studios seem too risk averse to spend the big bucks on non-franchise films now, or a least they have a winning formula and are sticking with it.

They haven't remotely supplanted them, there are plenty of action films  The fact you think there was one action film in 10 years in the 00's speaks volumes :p

The ones I listed are individual films that stand in their own right. Without any planned trilogy etc. There are others like The Fast and Furious, Bourne Identity and Minority Report. But they tend to be bunched up at the beginning of the 00s. After Spiderman, Iron Man and Batman Begins were released, most action films were just comic book adaptions, or sequels linked to an existing franchise.

Absolutely, people should only make what you want to see. That makes perfect sense

No, they should stop churning out endless, repetitive drivel. There's nothing wrong with the comic book genre, just like there's nothing inherently wrong with horror or Sci-Fi, but it is overkill now, the Nolan Batman films were great, I've liked other comic book films too.

Make less comic book movies, but make better ones. The film/TV industries are overloaded with crappy franchises way past their sell by dates (Star Wars and Star Trek spring to mind), and cash in rehashes of formerly excellent series, like Hellboy, where I enjoyed both films. I thought Watchmen was very good, V for Vendetta also. But far too much comic book output is garbage, they cancelled five of them on Netflix recently, and not only because of Disney, but because they (mostly) just weren't very good.

They have cancelled them because they weren't very good. And then they have promoted 4 of them for an Emmy. The only reason that any of them were canceled is due to the high fee's Disney wanted to charge Netflix.

If you don't like the shows that is fair enough, I personally don't like Luke Cage or Iron Fist, but to make out Netflix cancelled them for any other reason than the cost is just absurd.

Watched it earlier today, rubbish, me and the wife loved the first two she hated it as well..

Rubbish cgi, rubbish acting all round rubbish

I think this might be one of the worst movies I've ever seen and I didn't even survive until the end.

Every aspect of it pales in comparison to the original 2.
