Help: Kittens!

Aww so lovely. You're doing a great job Stelly.

One thing. Try and avoid the kittens eating the adult food, as it can upset their tummies. Bound to be hard though, given the circumstances.

Just I know when I got Lola and Dave, Lola had an upset tummy as she was in a house with foster adult cats, and she had been nicking their food, the foster mum explained to me what the little madam had been up to :)

Its so cute watching them grow :)

They can eat the mums food if they want, she should still be in kitten food anyway so it will do them no real harm. The dry will probably harder for them to digest though.

Don't take her off the wet. Even bad quality wet is better than the best dry so nutritionally she'll be doing worse if you take away the wet food.

She could have picked up something (I'm treating my two at the minute and its not the easiest thing in the world to pill a scared cat so hope its nothing serious). Is there any chance a vet could come out to you? Or pick up a pot at the vets, collect a fresh poo sample and send it in to get tested. She could just have worms but I think most vets would want to see her before treatment. Don't buy anything from supermarkets or PAH most of them are unsafe or don't work.

The mum can come into season quite soon now since the kittens seam to be weaning.

I am thinking about giving her less tinned wet food as I'm getting a lot of, erm, sloppy joes from her at the moment, any advice on this?

It's possibly the kitten food that gives the mother runny turds...

I bought some kitten biscuits (go-cat) by mistake, and gave them to the one of my cats that will only eat dry food (the retarded one). She got the runs the very next day. At first I thought she'd eaten something dodgy outside, but her runs continued in the same consistency for another few days. As soon as I stopped giving her the kitten food, she went 'back to normal' right away.

Did your plan to seal the garage work, Stelly? Or is the mother still able to get outside?

Fantastic update! They look so cute in the basket with mum.
With regards mum's pooping, I wouldn't stop with the wet food. The sloppy joes may be down to the specific food you are giving her, what is it? It she has been eating wild, then processed cat food may upset the tummy. As mentioned, it could also be the kitten food.

I've had one at 8 and one at 7 weeks. 7 is prob a bit too young as she didnt clean herself for a while but both turned out friendly cats.

I thought 8-10 was the norm.

Yeah, 12 weeks is probably ideal. In principle they can go as soon as they're weaned (~8 weeks or so), but 10 weeks+ is better.

Can't wait to have one now.

At what age do you plan to let them go? 8-9 weeks?

As the guys suggest maybe 12 weeks... I may do it a week or so earlier but no earlier then that.

I'm going to do an update in a minute as I have some vids to post :)

Okay here goes...

On Saturday I went to the local pet store and get a massive cat litter tray... it is huge so I now have a smaller and bigger cat litter tray in the garage which is helping a lot with cleaning and the smell in the garage from poop :) I also bought a poopa scoop which is a god send SO glad that I took the pet shop owner's advice on that as I think I would be going insane by now...

I have another video showing how the kittens are slowly becoming more use to my touching and stroking them, I'm sure that TrixiBuG will like this one as it is the one that she eye balled in wanting... he is not the only one that is a lap cat I would say that 2 of them loving being on my knee the other two are a little less liking it...

I also managed to get another video of them playing (I have to apologise about the poop as I just cleaned it out and one went in there!!) they are getting very good on their feet and trying jumping and climbing a lot... they love the log that you can see there.... and don't worry its secure :)

At the end you can see the mother go right up to the window.... that is because a massive Tom that I have never seen before came right up to the window.... I was not having that and chased him off.... I was thinking about letting Judith at him but thought better of it :)

I just want to say before I go into this I know, I know, I tried my best but I really couldn't seal the garage any more... and without any more excuses I think that the mother is preggers again... I tried everything to keep her in but without major mods to the garage roof which will cost me a packet I can't keep her in but she seems to have put on a lot of weight :( I'm going to talk to the CPL to see if they can advise what I can do next... she is just about stopping feeding them..

I hope that you like this update and I will get some more tomorrow :)

AHAHAHAAAAA!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Loooooooooook at little Peanut/ Franklin (we are undecided of his name yet) :D :D :D :D He is all nearly grown up!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP!!!!!!!

*sigh* bloody cats are randy beasts :( She has got herself caught very fast though - she might be just putting on weight for the kittehs but I suspect not...little hussy!

I think its time to try and catch her and take her to the CPL. Make sure you are all covered up from scratches, and move the kittens are out of the way before you try and get her. Also get your OH to help in catching her - 2 people are better than one in this case

Catching our domesticated ones can be a pain, good luck catching her she really needs to be spayed. We always have boys and get them done.
