Help: Kittens!

Its not fair putting the mother through another pregnancy so soon after this one. Your best bet is to get her spayed so it doesn't happen again. She won't notice they are gone and her condition will be much better for it. The kittens could also have complications due to the mum being so exhausted and you could have 4 stillborns.

Its kinder all around if you get her spayed.

unfortunatly mate, id get them aborted. as harsh as you might think it is, its not fair bringing them into the world when you have no way to keep them, or your struggling for places for them to go, then thats even worse. they wont know anything about it, so get rid.

Can't agree with this...

Stelly, you've done an excellent job with these kittens, and you went in knowing absolutely nothing. The next time around will be much easier - plus you already have all the equipment you need.

As I said before, finding new homes for kittens is not a difficult task. They really kind of sell themselves. Plus you have interested people here on the forums - there seems to be more demand for this first lot than there is supply.

Keep the kittens, but get the mother spayed. My 2c.

Cats are quite capable of raising several litters per year... She already has a regular source of food, and good shelter, so that cuts out the major stress inducing factors of feline pregnancy.

One especially for TrixiBuG:

AWWWW Look at my little man!!!!!! :D

No way are they ready to be homed! I thought it would be a little longer lol :)

Drop me an email and I will come and pick him up. Might come midweek as we will have Lucy next weekend and I would rather get him in the house and settled before a 3year old turns up. Unless me and Damien can come and get him next Sunday night after we have dropped little Miss off back with her mum? That might be better actually Stelly - let me know :)

In regards to Mummy Cat, its your call. You will not struggle to shift them (like mentioned before I know at least 2 people who want a kitten) but it is if you are okay raising another lot. Also you have to think that you will be waiting again to get Mum 'done' after this next lot and if she gets caught with her kitty knickers down again you're back to square one....

Hmmm.... I don't know... its not like I have tried hard to get rid of these ones to be honest... :(

Stelly

I don't think you want to abort them. I wouldn't be able to either.

Ultimately, in the wild they probably wouldn't survive. So it's only with your help that they can live at all.

If you can take care of them, at least for a few months until they're re-homed, you won't regret it. You might well regret having them aborted tho :/

Nah its alright mate, I fancy a run out so will come to you... will talk to the misses tonight and get a date... whats better for you as we both don't work weekends :)

Stelly

is this sunday to soon?

if yes then next sat should be ok.

would it be better if i come to you as we have a cat carrier to make it easier to move him and will save you petrol money since you need it all for the next litter :)

Let her have second litter but perhaps latter stages move her more secure so another doesn't happen before getting her done. As others have said you got most equipment already only another 64ish days and have tiny kits all over again :)

Regardless of whether they can doesn't mean should. Even reputable breeders wait until they're at least a year and space pregnancies out so that they rarely have more than one litter a year.

And all these people wanting a moggy kitten. Why are the not getting them from a shelter? There's plenty of kittens needing homes and another litter of kittens is not really what's needed to help the situation especially this time when it can definitely be avoided.

I'm not saying Stelly has not done a fantastic job, because he really has.

Well I agree that it would have better if the mother didn't get pregnant again - at all and certainly not so soon. But now that the she is it seems a shame to abort the kittens given that Stelly has shown he can bring them up nicely, and they can be rehomed.

It's a tricky issue I appreciate, but view is that baby critters should be given a chance at life wherever possible (...not a religious view at all). I guess it's a personal philosophy, and there are arguments to be made on both sides, but I know that if I had the choice I wouldn't have them aborted were I in Stelly's position.

That's a very rough decision to make, Stelly. :( I can't really offer advice as I don't think it's my place to say but I hope you manage to figure out what is best for you and the cats soon. :)

Hey guys...

Okay news...

I tried to touch the mother last night she nearly pooped herself and I actually did poop myself and I don't think I will be trying that for a very very very long time she definitely is not ready for that.

Stelly

This made me laugh out quite loud indeed

Kittens look great. Im kinda jealous what a awesome thing you are doing, not planned or anything just circumstances put on you

With regards to the abort. I really cannot comment. If you go through with it I will sponsor £50 to help with the costs in food or whatever you wanted. I am sure there are other forum members who would sponsor or help out. Its a big community.

Hey Guys,

Just got a trap off the RSPCA so I'm going to use it this weekend and get the mother to the vets to be spayed.

I was talking to the RSPCA woman and she told me that the avenue behind me there is a woman that has, after having kittens, 25 feral cats in her garage and is refusing help from the RSPCA they cannot do anything but weekly monitoring as all the cats are healthy so at least I now know how this is all happening.

Mother was out this morning and I'm a little nervous that she will not come back... so I'm getting her spayed (and spayed only) asap really, I just don't want the kittens springing the trap and the mother then going no where near it...

Kittens are all fine, Peanuts eye is looking great :)

Hey Stelly is there any chance you could come round tomorrow?

Was thinking it will give us a night with it and not having to go to bed for work in the morning.

Lets us no :)
