Hi guys,

I just recently found out, that cooking is fun and i like it, BUT i'm not good yet :p. Guess having a GF that always compliment you on what you do even if it's crap is good for the ego!

Anyways, i want to cook for her a curry but i dont really know which kind would be not too hard to do for a beginner like me? And i don't know any recipes as well.

Hope someone can help me! That'd be awesome

Get yourself a lot of spices. You'll look at the ingredients for a curry and think 'wow, thats way too much to get' but trust me, once you have stocked up on all the spices then you are set and can make pretty much any curry you want. Some spices you will need..

Cumin, turmeric, coriander seeds, ginger, chilli powder, garam masalla.

You'll need a few fresh bits when making the curry like coriander, onion, garlic, chillis.

If I'm making Indian curry then I'll make a curry gravy 1st then you can use this as your base sauce and add various other ingredients, depending on the curry. Just do a google search for Indian curry gravy.

If you are doing thai (which I love!) then I like to make the different pastes in advance and then put them in the fridge or freeze them. Favourites are thai green, thai red and massaman.

Best thing to do is a quick google search for them, pick one you fancy and go from there. Its trial and error but you'll soon be making curries exactly how you want them!

Like I said, stock up on all the spices. Took me a little while but I've now got 20 different spice containers that all come in handy for various curries etc. I love spicy food!

TO THE INTERNETS!

gotta love OCUK...
I really fail to see what's wrong in asking people advice about COOKING Hello this is not middle age anymore...

@the others: thank you :p

Here's one I call the 'Japanese Flag', named after the state your hoop will be in the day after eating it.

4 Large hard boiled eggs, chopped
2 large onions,
2 large green peppers
1 small tin anchovies
25 of the hottest chillies you can find
1 tin of supermarket own brand curry sauce.

Chop everything up and throw in a pan. Boil for 45 mins. Serve on a bed of rice.

Simmer down, all I meant was that the simplest and best way to get genuinely good recipes with instructions on how to prepare and cook the meal will be found by typing "how to cook a curry" into Google :)

As it happens, FUFTUB has told you exactly what you need to know anyway so it's all good.

i posted on ocuk because i know most people are British and you guys know a lot about Curry and i know personnal experience is better than some tutorials. Over here in Switzerland it's not the same and as you can get a lot of rubish on "THE INTERNETS" so i tough i'd post here

Saying that im going to give it a search anyways!

I love currys with lots of tomotoes in. i usualy mke mine with celery, onions, tomatoes, chillis, garlic, bird eye chillis, cumin, madras spcies and curry powder, abit of chicken stock and cream if i have any.
better than any curry from a jar

Wouldn't it be fantastic if there was some sort of facility on the forum to see whether other people had asked similar questions in the past? That way you could look at what these "old threads" said, and find out information without the need for it all to be repeated. A man can dream I suppose. Maybe one day.....

Ohmigod. That is amazing. A SEARCH FUNCTION. What a brilliant idea!

Thanks for your help, move along :)
Gotta love useless posts like yours tbh

edit: I already read that thread, but this is ocuk so posts are flowed with useless posts(like yours) so the information is kinda polluted, just wanted some CLEAR answer to my question, and maybe just maybe new views of the subject? omgeze121312212*12¨è2¨13 how this can be??) 18 posts in this thread !!!!9!!!! are useless see my point ? :o gotta love the internet

If the other thread was polluted, what made you think this one wouldn't be? And my post being useless doesn't stop your thread being useless.

Edit: Plus for a beginner like you, you should be able to find everything you need about making a basic curry in that thread, or the Johnny69 thread. Hell, if you're such a beginner, the first google result for curry should do the trick. Basic currys are damn easy to make.

Strangely enough I don't see your point, seeing as what you've just said makes no sense.
