Hey guys, just looking for some ideas of you experienced lot, looking to build my second gaming setup, got a budget of £1500 for the build on itself won’t mind pushing couple £100 if I have to, we will see what you guys come up with.. I won’t be ordering parts untill late September so I understand prices might change, also wanting advice on All the price changes at the moment.

Hi Chris

I'm not 100% sure on the dates but there is news of new GPU's being released at some point and new Intel CPU's.. Will you be needing mouse, keyboard and monitor or is this just for the components?
Yes I heard the 4000 series? Just for the components I’m going to allow another £500 for the monitor, keyboard etc..

The new GPUs aren't likely to be until after September at the earliest, probably closer to December.
Intel , AMD and Nvidia are all likely to release GPUs around the same time.

CPUs will be getting more expensive with inflation and intel warned it's going to raise prices because material costs are going up, AMD will inevitably do the same.
probably worth just buying a CPU and everything else now, but keeping whatever GPU your using now.

someone will probably come along with a build soon.

Gaming kinda favours intel for bang for buck performance now

which would be a 12600k, personally I built a pc recently and just slapped in a 12700k

which would be something like
My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,076.89 (includes delivery: £0.00)

you can save money on the ram by going to 3200mhz £25 or so or just dropping to 16gb, 32gb is over kill but most people are going to want 32gb anyway, I know I did.
Case is kinda expensive but I have the same one except I went for the pure white one, and it's a really nice case, everything about it feels premium. you can definetly save money on a case like going for a 4000d or so which would be a £50-£60 saving
you can probably save money on the PSU but according to my research the corsair ones are more likely coil whine with UK volts.

there's definitely cheaper options for the cooler but with my 12700k I'm idling literally 2-3c above ambient and eve when my room was 35c it still wouldn't go above 67c in benchmarks.
it will beat any AIOs, there are cheaper coolers that are almost as good though which I'm sure someone will recommend

I have both an sn850 and a samsung 980 pro NVME drives and this is the difference between them.

your probably wouldn't notice a difference but to me paying the extra for whats essentially twice as good random read/write seemed worth it.

just stick with an sn850 unless you need something to strecth your budget up anyway though :p

I don’t have a GPU as I’ve passed down my previous setup to my nephew, are these new graphic cards worth the wait or are they going to be overpriced compared to other good options that are likely to drop in price? Everything else sound good I like the though of a premium look with all the lighting etc, and I don’t mind paying extra for premium as you said I’d probably end up going for the 12700k, im so indecisive with choosing a build just open to ideas for the minute!

The new Nvidia cards seem like they will be power hungry monsters and only the high end ones will be available at first anyway.

You might be better off getting a 3060ti or 6700xt now

intels new card will be priced as the best price to performance ratio apparently but will only be around as fast as a 3060ti
and could have terrible drivers at first, seems they will probably launch before the new ATI/NVidia cards but I doubt they will be much cheaper than just getting a 3060ti or 6700xt

better off to ask when you're ready to buy
Yes I agree but I’m so indecisive and I really want to make an amazing build.. I’ve tried doing research but there’s so much to it! Only component I’m sure of is the 32gb trident ram! Everything else is just a blur and im sorry to the people I havnt replied too! Just all these upcoming GPUs I have no clue about!

Why is it a waste, I understand it’s excessive ram but I like the look and the future proof of it..
unless it's ddr5, it's not "future proof" lol
and even then, by the time you want to upgrade that ddr5 in a few years time...the advice will be "that ram is too slow you should get faster ram"

I don’t have a pc anymore.. how long should I be waiting? Will prices even go down
ahh that's different .. sept oct .. and yes .. look at the price of nvidia cards .. same with amd .. mining is dead they can't shift them .. so all the new gear will be priced to sell .. nvidia is even going as far as to delay some cards ..
if you have an xbox or something might be worth the wait ..

Depends which ram you mean, the ram that it is £150ish, not too bad, but £200 odd, no thanks. The going price for 32GB of DDR4 3200 suitable for Intel 12th gen is about £100. If you like the look and want to pay it, that's up to you.

I saw an article from TPU today that said the 13th gen CPUs are supposed to be releasing in October, but that'll be K CPUs and Z boards, I think. The non-K and H/B will be end of January.

So what are some of the new cards to look out for? The lake series? I’m going to do some research on the best ones

That’s the trouble I love the look of it! But someone said I’m better off getting DDR5 ram so

You said you wanted 'future proof' and DDR4 is technically end of line, but it doesn't matter really, just buy whatever suits your system. Like said above though, this is all hypotheticals, so much new tech is due in the autumn it would be best to come back when you're ready to build.
