Help! Son wants to build a gaming PC and I am clueless

I am hoping the below will do the trick, I want to get some of this stuff ordered tonight before the sales switch off - I have somewhere in the region of £400- £500 to spend tonight (The rest is being purchased as Christmas gifts from family) any suggestions which of these are currently the best deals so I can make the max savings?
I wouldn't say any of those prices are spectacular, if you can beat them you're doing good.

thank you! I've just seen this > 850W ASUS TUF Gaming Gold, Fully Modular, 80PLUS Gold, Single Rail, 70.8A, 135mm Fan, ATX PSU for £89.99, no idea if compatible or if its better/worse than your suggestion...
It is a good PSU (there's a review on Anandtech) but the TUF PSUs went up like... £20-£30 at OCUK a few hours ago :(

and the motherboard.
You'll need to look around for other pricing if you need it asap, afraid we can't suggest competitors due to forum rules but there are plenty of places to buy from.
Please dont think about paying £300 for a 4060.

I never normally butt in these threads, but why not just get a Corsair PSU, easy RMA in the UK if anything goes wrong? Phanteks? Who knows . . .

Seasonic is UK RMA I think, and you get a replacement shipped from Germany.

If you order an Antec PSU from OcUK, they deal with the RMA process for the duration of the warranty.

Antec has this:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/antec-cx500m-rgb-m-atx-mini-tower-black-cas-atc-02734.html for nice and cheap and comes with RGB fans. :) Unfortunately the black one is OOS.
But they do have this:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/antec-cx800-elite-rgb-mid-tower-black-cas-atc-02739.html Nice case, Loads of RGB Fans, black and takes a ATX board and is Dual chamber so much easier to make tidy.

Hope that helps.
Thanks! Thefirst one is a mini tower which I assume is too small? I think the second will be too big for the shelf it will sit on

Ah My apologies, I missed it being Micro ATX. If you change the board for M-ATX one tho it will fit. When i used to build systems for kids i do tend to go for a smaller chassis as room in bedrooms are often limited and there isnt a huge system to find space for.

This is a decent board for a tenner more but in stock that will fit in that chassis. The cheaper price on the chassis with take up the £10 difference in price for the M-ATX board.

I would go with the MSI Ventus for the 2 fans.

I would not recommend the ASUS EVO as there has been complaints about the cooler not been very good (think this was on the 4070 though).
Thanks! I'll get the MSI Ventus then .

Is there a PSU you would recommend?

I think there are 4 or 5 that have been suggested on this thread and I'm even more confused now

Think i would go with the Phanteks.
I e-mailed Phanteks on Thursday, here is the reply back on Friday . . . .

Me: Hello, I'm just enquiring. I am a UK resident, if I purchase a Phanteks PSU, what is the RMA procedure if anything goes wrong. Where would the PSU be sent to, thanks.

Phanteks reply: We recommend to purchase it at our distributor OCUK. Should you require RMA service, they will assist you further in getting it sorted out. Phanteks team

Thanks for sharing this, does that mean it's OK for me to get as OCUK could sort out RMA stuff? (No idea what RMA is BTW )

You're thinking of the 4070 Evo, and the problem with that is with Asus using the 4060 cooler on the 4070 rather than the original and very well received Dual model hsf. The actual 4060 should be alright, unless Asus have managed to **** that up somehow too since I last checked.
