Help streaming a funeral

I just have memories of weddings being filmed when I was younger (a celebration) and it doesn’t sit right when it’s a funeral (time to grieve).

I am probably old fashioned but seems so strange to me. Not saying it’s wrong btw.

Rather than stream it, why not record it, blur out faces of anybody who doesn't agree to be shown on the video, then upload it you YouTube privately?

Sure, it's not a live stream, but I see it as trying to respect the wishes of everybody.

A close family friend has recently died.

Some relatives live too far too travel so I've been asked to stream it.

Connectivity is good 4G. I've got a decent mobile phone and a laptop I could hotspot. Although a hotspot would be another point of failure.

I'm guessing audio will be a bit rubbish from the phone so could buy a Bluetooth microphone if that would help.

My YouTube account is apparently "not eligible to stream" cos, YouTube reasons.

Any advice would be really useful especially on the:

Platform to use
Any useful hardware

Lots of thanks.....

It’s a strange world we are living in. This is not something I would ever do or consider.

Fully appreciate the circumstances but I have never seen a family funeral streamed and hope I never do (the Queen being the exception here).

Appreciate this is a tough one OP.
I was at my aunts funeral a couple of months ago and it was streamed live for my uncle and a few others who couldn't make it due to ill health. Its a fairly common occurrence these days and most places will be able to accommodate this for you, but at a cost.

My condolences. I have attended a few streamed funerals. The streaming was handled by the undertakers/funeral directors who had a secure log in for guests. Cameras were at back, you could see a few backs of heads, not much personally identifiable. It worked well for a lockdown funeral/funeral as we emerged from lockdown but not everyone could get there.

My plan is to simply steam the vicar
That's one way to sort the catering I guess.

It is an interesting one with my grandad's funeral coming up there are a few who'd like to be there in person but can't due to either themselves being of comparable age and infirm or abroad. At first it kind of seems wrong in a way but there are several who realistically can't be there who'd really appreciate being able to follow the service, etc.

I think it would be pretty sad if this comes the norm as you can see a situation where more and more people sack off attending in-person and logging in from home - with the excuses get worst over time. Flakiness is rising across modern society! I want the Ghanaian coffin bearers at mine so would want a decent audience.

I was told of someone the other day who wants to be fed to her pet pigs upon her death. A serious request that she expects to be honoured. Relatives are quietly looking into the legality of it. But hopefully not looking into streaming it....

I mentioned it to a legal friend who shook his head and declined a professional opinion. He was muttering about bacon sandwiches with a look of disdain as he wandered off.

We watched an Aunts funeral via stream a few years ago, prior to Covid, but they are based in Texas so travel would've been difficult. It's certainly do-able but I'm not sure of the best way to do it, certainly not enough to give advice but I hope you find a solution and it goes without saying, condolences.

Not sure why so many people are so against the idea of streaming funerals. Some families are spread across the world and would still like to view the service. There is nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

When our friends’s mother died during Lockdown, the crematorium not only streamed the service live, but it was available to watch “on demand” for 30 days afterwards for those who couldn’t watch it live.

The church my folks go to stream their Sunday services with Zoom, not sure on the setup but I guess they use an external webcam and then output from the sound system mixer into the laptop.

Yeah it's not the issue with distance relatives wanting to see it really and ultimately if everyone there is happy with it then people can do what they want - it's more the fact that if it became normal across the board, people would just use it as an excuse to sack it off

Good. It is morbid how people use funerals as a chance to catch up with long forgotten relatives.

I have read of something similar with a huntsman. What happened was that the ashes were mixed into the dogs' feed.
