Help - Want to move back to android from iphone 4s

Ahh no I simply meant I'd credit the account with the remaining £315 due and leave it run its course until month 11. Then give my months notice!

£200 and a receipt vs £30 and no receipt?

Well, it should still be under Samsung warranty via the serial number I imagine?

I'm not sure if you can say where incase its a competitor, but where will you be grabbing yours from mate?

To make you both happy I finally purchased one today. In blue! £403 due to discount and price match to voda!

Its on charge, got to go back out to work shortly so shall have a proper play with it tomorrow :)

Cheers for your convincing guys ;)

Guys Help -

I REALLY don't like touchwiz. I don't know why, I just prefer HTC's appearance. I'm within the 14 day allowance to swap this for another handset.

If I did, would you advise the One X or one S?

Thanks :)

Touchwiz imho is much better optimised than Sense...only thing I miss from Sense is the clock/weather widget but I don't miss the sluggishness of it.

Sold my One X for the SGS3 and am much happier for it.

One S IMO.

It is just the X that isn't optimized well enough with sense and tegra (this should in theory change as the nexus 7 is also using the tegra chipset and the nexus 7 is said to run faster and smoother than the GS 3:eek: as long as HTC don't **** up :p the X should be the same when it receives JB), the S is optimized perfectly well as the performance is pretty much on par with the GS 3 and battery life is slightly better (I know the res./screen size isn't the same, but it has a smaller battery as well, just a more PE chip)

The GS 3 only appears smoother than the S/X due to the animations. If you were to flash the exact same animations of the GS 3 on the S and set the same speed etc. it is guaranteed that you will barely notice any difference especially once JB arrives.

Also looking at the review of the GS 3 S4 CPU version with the same GPU as well although it has 2GB RAM, the XL and S (to be expected due to the smaller res. on the S though) are quite a bit better than the GS 3 S4 version in performance and battery life benchmarks, so sense must be pretty well optimized.

Either that or touchwiz is just poorly optimized with the S4 and adreno 225 :p

And even then the GS 3 quad version here doesn't score much better than the S/XL in quite a few tests, rapes them in GPU dependant tests though as the GPU is far better.

In real world usage there isn't a massive difference especially once you get a 3rd party launcher on.

Pretty much exactly what Robbo said in his guide there Mike, although IMO the camera is a tie with the GS 3 as the features/UI etc. are far better than touchwiz alternative and the quality of photos seem to be better in some shots and worse in other shots going by Stoosh's comparison shots in the S thread. Also comes down to what you prefer, more vibrant colours or more natural colours, IMO the vibrant photos are more "pleasing" to look at.

The 1080P video recording on the GS 3 is much better though, except the stereo recording and the S has slightly better video recording than the X, no idea why though.

Also think it is a tie for phone/call performance, the S is great for call quality and performance regarding that, it is only a problem if you encounter the signal issue, some people have it, others don't.

Basically go for the X for these reasons:

- storage
- NFC
- better/larger screen although it is IPS, so you loose the blacks and more vibrant colours
- better developing community

Go for the S for these reasons:

- smaller/more comfortable to hold
- better audio
- faster/smoother
- better battery life
- better perceived and build quality

Software is exactly the same.

EDIT:

However, you can eliminate some of the main areas of touchwiz:

I recommend these apps:

browser - quick ics browser
launcher - nova or apex
contacts/dialer - ex dialer with black ICS theme
SMS - go sms
calendar - android 4 calendar
music - poweramp or winamp
gallery - gallery ICS
weather widget - snowstorm, fancy widgets, weather eye
calendar/agenda widgets - APW widgets with google ICS theme, smooth calendar, simple calendar
keyboard - swiftkey 3 or stock ICS
lockscreen - widget locker

The rest such as system menus and integrated features you can't do anything about unless you root and flash a custom/stock ROM but it will be no replacement for HTC sense if you're a massive fan of it.

It has Gorilla Glass. You don't NEED a screen protector, the screen won't scratch easily but it will scratch in some situations. It's up to you.

You'll also get used to the size in no time, don't worry about that.

hi, take a look at my evo's 3d screen which i look after like it is something REALLY precious

no idea how it happen, but i really, really doubt its scratch proof as it is advertised

Nexus thank you for the reply mate :) got to be honest this phone is driving me mental to actually type on, it doesn't correct my screw ups and makes writing texts a right ballache.

My line of thought now is to go back to an iPhone (shoot me I know )

No problem :)

As robbo said, install the swiftkey 3 keyboard, you can install the free version here ;) It is easily the best keyboard ever.

This isn't an apple product, you can change what you don't like :p

Strongly recommend you to try those apps I posted above, may take a good bit of the day up though setting them up and finding your way around them, but once done, you shouldn't have to worry about it again and it will make a vast difference to touchwiz apps and just make the experience more pretty and enjoyable.

And if you still find it not as enjoyable as you would like and prefer the sense experience, then I would get the X/S and see what you think.

I do agree with you and others, that if you really like sense, there is no "real" alternative even with 3rd party apps installed. The HTC sense keyboard I like a lot! It is very good for accuracy once calibrated and the prediction is pretty good but swiftkey has much better prediction and is more accurate for typing on.

EDIT:

Not sure if you have looked at these reviews yet, but gsmarena cover the software side of things very well and have a good video showing the software off, both the X and S are pretty much the same so doesn't matter too much, which review you look at :p

HTC one S
HTC one X

To all of you that are not Robbo or Nexus given they are playing with my head more than the worlds finest example of what I deem to be a typical woman would ;)

Please answer the following

HTC one S or Galaxy S3 : And Why!

Don't ask me why I'm asking again either ;)

Lol :D

The majority of people here will say the GS 3 since they own one :D :p

Also, the most indecisive person award goes to...............

drum roll.........

It's considered to be the best Android phone, well, because it is really.

Okay, some people hate the design of it (Nexus for example), but there's no denying it has the most points on the scoreboard when it comes down to the facts.

You might want to ask in the GS3 thread instead, people in there might provide some other reasons that we missed... I doubt anyone is reading this thread. :p

Here's my mini-review of it (partly against the HTC One X too): http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22328119&postcount=10376

You found me :(

I watch these forums like a hawk! No hiding from me! :D

:p

Why do most people here own one though ;)

Essentially because it is the best device overall, as said before it is a more complete package than any other mobile. Doesn't have as many disadvantages as the S/X.

Although these disadvantages may not bother/apply to you i.e. storage, non removable battery etc.

But the main reasons people went with this over the alternatives (mainly the X and S) was largely due to storage and much better battery life than the X whilst also being removable and of course the bigger/better screen than the S.

Also as you have probably seen the majority of people on this forum root and flash their android phones so the touchwiz/sense skins don't really play a deciding factor for most of them.

I personally don't think Robbo or I have missed anything, of course we have different opinions on some stuff as a large part comes down to personal preference.

If you can get on with the size and touchwiz and aren't bothered about sense then the GS 3 is the device to go for.
