Help - Want to move back to android from iphone 4s

This is my last chance now lol! CPW are going to absolutely hate me!

I've always loved htc, so much so that I didn't even look at another phone for almost two years after getting my desire until it went wrong. The problem is, the screen on the GS3 is gorgeous.

The size is something of a concern but apparently something that you can//do get used to. I didn't realise you could get rid of that touchwiz stuff so easily.

I do like the HTC styling as it were, my problem is though, if the signal is rubbish I'm a bit buggered!

I watch these forums like a hawk! No hiding from me! :D

:p

I made you a new signature.

Yeah you can get rid of any android skin pretty easily :)

And yup, after some time you will get use to the size (you should!), I personally could not go any bigger than the X, GS 3 and GN as they are just on the verge of being too big.

You could always give the S a try and if the signal is rubbish or/and you don't like it and rather have the GS 3 again, just return and get your money back then go for the GS 3 ;) :p

I am sure that they will give you a refund if you encounter signal problems.

I made you a new signature.

Lol, very nice! Might actually change to that! :D

You forgot the "S" though :p

They apparently don't give you a refund however they will exchange a pay as you go phone for up to 14 days!

The One S is probably the sensible choice, but that screen.........

As I said - my dreams of being a navy captain as a young lad were ruined by my mother telling me my ship would have sunk before I'd decided what to do

You could always take a leaf out of my book, and get both. ;)

Entirely up to you regarding the screens :)

Always makes me lol that last part! :D

@Robbo

haha, nice one! Thanks

Well Robbo - I'll pay for the One S, and you buy me a GS3? How comes you have both and which do you prefer... dare I ask ;)

I'm all but decided on the HTC One S wish me luck ;)

I don't have the One S. I have the One X and GS3 (among many others).

I prefer the GS3, the reasons are all in the link I posted above.

Read it and you'll get an idea of where I'm coming from. I've also mentioned there a couple of points that I missed out earlier, such as the fact the notification LED is miles better on the GS3 than the HTC phones!

Ah yeah completely forgot about the NLED :o

It is rubbish on the one series phones, barely notice it half the time (I covered it in my S review, how exactly it works etc.) cheap and tacky way that HTC implemented it IMO.

EDIT:

New sig! :D

Robbo - Is the video really that good on the GS3? My little bundle of joy is getting to the age where he's starting to get really interesting and a lot more capable now and my phone is something I use quite a lot to video bits and pieces of his new tricks!

Yes, the HD video recording is head and shoulders above everything else really (except perhaps the Pureview 808).

I had got used to the HTC One X video recording, and then when I compared it to the GS3, side by side, the difference is pretty big!

It is excellent. The light metering is as good as it could possibly be, it refocuses quickly, and the quality is excellent with no stuttering. Comparatively the HTC phones stutter a bit and the light metering is a disaster.

As for the stills camera, they're roughly the same overall.

Here's a page on it: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_vs_htc_one_x-review-759p6.php

Just to chip in about the 1080P video recording, it is as good as everyone says in terms of quality, light metering and smoothness (apart from the stereo audio recording, I am sure this will be fixed eventually though? At the minute it has no base to it)

In terms of features, the one series/sense V4 is far better IMO and the camera UI is also nicer overall.

Regarding photos, it is more or less the same, S performs better in some areas and the GS 3 in other areas, not too much to worry about regarding "stills".

If you're interested you can see some 1080P and slow motion (great feature this) footage of mine:

I posted some of my photos here and some comparisons between the S and GS 3 by stoosh:

Yeah pretty much what was said, X, S, 4s or GS 3.

You can see comparisons between the S (the X will be more or less the same) and GS 3 below:

I was returning home very late from work and took the liberty of taking a few low light pictures

Even with the samples above the S3 I think the S3 produces better results.

HOWEVER look at the low light picture below:

Your GF probably won't be bothered about this next area? But the camera UI is better than the GS 3 camera UI (although bonus of GS 3 is you can add shortcuts to features on the side) and certain things are implemented better in sense V4 i.e. the burst shot feature and you also have loads more features and effects on sense V4, which really does make it a joy to use the camera.

The GS 3 has much better 1080P recording in terms of smoothness and light metering though, however, the stereo audio recording has no bass to it.

EDIT:

Bah, those images in the second spoiler have just gone down! Working literally a minute ago

I actually don't think there's much of a difference between the camera interfaces, the GS3 one is pretty good, it has loads of options.

Is it just the filters you're talking about (and slow motion obviously)? The GS3 has a few filters now too and they're pretty nice. Failing that, you can just use Hipstergram. :p
