Help - Want to move back to android from iphone 4s

I had a desire for two years and absolutely loved it. I've got to drive to work now to either give him my 4s or give him the S3 back. I will update when I return home!

Sense tells me - keep the S3 but there we go!

Did you keep your desire as stock in regards to sense UI?

If so then maybe you would love the X/S more than the GS 3 instead and definitely choose it over the 4S easily?

EDIT:

Read your last post, then keep the GS 3! :p

I haven't been offered to swap the 4s for a X/S!!

I know, but what you could do is swap the 4s for the GS 3 anyway and if you do decide that you prefer the x/S (after having had another play with them) then sell the GS 3 for about £400-450 and get the X or S for a bit cheaper and have some money left over ;)

Honestly I think you will regret that you didn't take the GS 3 later on. Just go for it. Live on the edge! :p

Hey guys,

I had cleared my iphone ready to swap it and then came to a sticking point. The guy doesn't have a receipt for the phone. All well and good possibly but to insure it and should the worst happen and I need to claim - I need a receipt.

While the guy works were I do, I don't know him that well and it all seemed a little dodgy to me from there on......

I am indecisive believe me, I wanted to be a navy officer in my younger years and the old dear always said my ship would be dead before I'd fired a gun!

I want another one, but I need one thats got a receipt and a guarantee.

You may think I'm stupid here, and if so please do say I'll go get it but no warranty and no insurance =

Hmm, I don't think I would have taken the mobile either then due to no receipt! Unless you can have it for a longer period of time to make sure that everything is working properly?

Also, do you need a receipt to return to Samsung directly??? If not and you got a bit longer play time with it to make sure it worked ok then I would take it.

ROFL! :D

Thank god I wasn't drinking something whilst reading that :D :p

I doubt you need a receipt for warranty purposed, but to insure it I'd need one in the event of a claim!

I fell in love with the screen, and the camera was amazing. Certainly the images looked better than that of the iphone, but that could have been rose tinted glasses looking at the screen itself.

I doubt he'd let me have it longer, I can still go and get it tomorrow but I have a feeling it might bite me in teh backside if I get that particular handset from him?

Yeah the camera is very good especially the 1080P recording although the stereo audio recording has no base to it, I imagine it will get fixed with an update soonish though.

It is better than the 4s camera overall and indeed looking at the photos on the GS 3 screen will look much better than looking at photos on the 4s screen :p

Up to you what you do, if you can check the device again tomorrow for a bit longer to make sure it works and it turns out fine then go for it.

I can't believe that he doesn't still have the receipt for a £450-500 device though

We call him dell boy at work, he's sold a roller coaster on eBay before now, a jack of all sales trades you might say!

Spends six months a year here and the rest in Thailand living somewhere too unsavoury for me too mention on here!!

I figure I am better off buying the phone new and sim free, then selling mine on the auction site. At least then I get a two year guarantee etc :)

Yup, you probably are better of doing that, won't be a huge amount of difference in money :) just a bit more hassle involved :p

He's here for another three months Nexus so I've got to confess - I'm tempted to go down and pick it up from him and do the swap (Battleships ok!!)

This was reinforced even more when I looked at my iphone screen and then my htc desire one last night, the iphone has a nasty yellow tint to it

If you want it and the device works ok, go for it! :)

Hmm, sounds like you were unlucky with your 4s then, unfortunately all screens have some defects i.e. the AMOLED screens can have a blue/pink tint to them and then black dots when you have a black screen and you're in a pitch black room (not viewable under normal conditions though), the yellow tint seems to be the most common problem for the 4s screen.

another reason why I would never go to iPhone.

Bought an £11 obd2 adapter for my car and connect it to do diagnostics/logging over bluetooth with Android.

I am a recovering iaholic, soon I hope to be able to break free. One day I may actually be decisive too, but I very much doubt that will happen!

Carphonewarehouse main office number place rang me back, cpw in Penzance must sell me a sim free one if I want one. Can't go down there currently as the mrs is at work, I have ten month old here, and by the time she's back I've got to go back to work. Bloody hate out of hours migrations but there we go!

My choices now are :

Trade mine in to CPW and buy a new sim free one which means £200 to CPW

OR

Take the risk, trade it to the guy at work and pay £30.

Which would you go for?!

£200 and a receipt vs £30 and no receipt?

Well, it should still be under Samsung warranty via the serial number I imagine?

Definitely the £30 option (if the mobile has no problems and you can return to Samsung) :p

Unless you're like Robbo and £200 means very little to you :D :p

Lol ^^ I'm not like Robbo, and £200 to me is probably input shaft bearings in my 12 year old volkswagen Boring!

My only concern with the £30 one is the possibility of it being reported missing once I've paid for it!

My other theory was this :

Pay off my tesco mobile contract with the money envirophone will give me for the 4s. Give sim card for tesco mobile to my Mrs (makes her happy as she then has 750 minutes, 5000 texts and 1gb of net she won't use)

I then buy a sim free one at a ludacris amount of money, take out a 12 month sim only deal, get some cashback, offset this against the phone and hopefully be happy!

Hmm, maybe I am missing something here :o

Surely if you pay off/cancel your current TESCO contract/SIM then will that SIM not be active any longer thus meaning you/your wife can't use it again?
