If you could get my spec with the i5K and even a 2nd hand 1GB 460 that would be a great rig. The 2nd hand GPU will save you cash to get the better CPU and overclock it. You can always drop in a much better GPU much further down the road.

I look forward to seeing what you settle on later this month :D

Keep that kingston RAM I used, it's got a better CAS rating and looks better than Bacons choice. I'm not keen on that case either but for £30 it's hard to get something really nice.....i'd stick with the asgard pro. If you want a window look at the Zalman Z9 U3 but its not stocked here and will be a little more cash (has loads of stuff packed in it though)

Theres not goanna be much difference between the two RAM pieces, personally I like the look of PCB's and the Crucial RAM has a lower voltage needed according to the spec's. But you'd have to be real nit picky to argue over them :D

Either the crucial or the Kingston are favourable over the Team group for the same price. He isn't buying anytime soon so there isn't much point getting too picky over parts.

True!, on that note, would you suggest buying parts in stage, for example the ones that arent too likely to fluctuate in price e.g. Case, Motherboard?

ive just read that the i3 3220 DOESNT support pci - 3.0 but the ivybridge i5's and i7's do. Is this correct?.

Is there any noticeable difference between pci-2.0 and pci -3.0? Or is it just a marketing thing?

You could but it only makes sense to do this when you have free P&P. You would need 250 posts to qualify for that which is do-a-bubble.

If you want to do "installments", I would look at doing PSU and case first. Then add a mobo bundle (CPU,RAM,mobo), that's enough to POST and test the rig. Then you can add the HDDs,SSDs,GPUs,optical drive etc etc

I was hoping for free P&P the other day, then noticed you need to be a member for 90 days or more too :)

A little wait won't bother me though. Still worth it.
