Hi guys this will be my first build but I thought I would ask you guys for spec ideas as I want to get the most for my money ive got a budget of around £400-500 I'm looking to use it to play a lot of steam games like guildwars, dayz, tf2.
Could you include WiFi and a HDMI port in this spec (no monitor needed) I'm looking to start ordering parts asap and will post updates as I build the machine
Thanks

DayZ is pretty CPU intensive. So I'd focus on that first, and then improving graphics later.

YOUR BASKET

1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02733) £67.99
1 x Avexir Core Blue Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16000904G-2CW) - Blue Light £59.99

1 x Gigabyte KM6150 Keyboard and Mouse Set £9.95
Total : £509.42 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Could go for a cheaper i5 but it still won't free up budget for a good card anyway. So I'd use the integrated graphics on low resolution for time being.

Mobo has HDMI output. PSU will run any single video card you want. Spend a little extra for 1TB storage or a better 550/650w Gold Superflower PSU.

Adding a decent video card will add £100-150 to total cost. But you'll end up with a better system (obviously).

Alternatively, if you're not wanting to spend extra on the computer in future, a Piledriver system:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R7 260X OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11222-06-20G) £107.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £89.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02733) £67.99
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £56.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x SuperFlower Amazon 450W "80 Plus Bronze" Power Supply £39.95
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD £35.99
1 x Aerocool V3X Advance Evil Blue Edition Midi-Tower - Black/Blue £25.99
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £17.99
1 x TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N USB Adapter (TL-WN821NC) £11.95
1 x Gigabyte KM6150 Keyboard and Mouse Set £9.95
Total : £530.36 (includes shipping : £8.00).

And as above - spend a little extra for 1TB storage or a better Gold Superflower PSU.

OcUK customer service is pretty much the best, but some say order where you get best value/half-decent customer service. Either way you'll get the same parts at different prices. Tbh I'd use the iGPU for DayZ if you went with a 4670k or something, I used to run standalone at lowest graphics (not great), but it worked with pretty okay FPS.

Looking through the specs I was going to go with danny75s first spec and then add a nice video card too it in a couple months but looking at the price for the OS

That's a good idea but isn't windows 7 preferred over windows 8? Also should I make a start ordering parts or wait to see if anyone else has come up with a build
Thanks for the help guys

Depends entirely on the user, whether you like 7 or 8. Only order parts if you're 100% set on them but I wouldn't order unless on offer as you will have to pay extra for postage.

You could go for a used 4670k/3570k with a new/used board which will save a decent £60-£70 and spending another £70 on top of that will grant you an R9 270X

I want to get started on ordering parts but as this will be my first build I'm pretty nervous as to if I'll be able to set it all up by just following tutorial videos online but have wanted my own gaming PC for a very long time
