You play the game for a while (random time period).. then it locks up your PC and you have to reset it or power it off?

If so, this happened to me after i installed MCE, going back to bog standard XP Pro didnt solve the issue.

Does it happen in all games/3d applications, or just those mentioned? What about CPU intensive applications? (e.g. Prime95, or Video En

It could be some sort of driver issue, check the drivers for your chipset (motherboard) are the latest, as are your graphics drivers.

It might also be worth checking that there's no overheating problems.

it only seems to happen in games it does not happen in windows

Chip set drivers are up too date, and so are the graphics drivers

Bit of a newb question : How do i check for overheating problems ?

You can either download some software like SpeedFan, or leave it in the BIOS for a while and check the temperatures. Most motherboards will have the temperatures in the BIOS, although some OEM manufacturers leave it out (HP, Packard Bell et al).

Is it self built PC, or was it pre assembled?

it's a Packardbell IMEDIA MCE 1615 * shame *

Just installed speed fan ... :)

Are these readings eny good ?

They look OK to me David. The hard drives are fairly cool and the processor and board temps are presumably one of Temp1 and Temp3 which are maybe a little high. The Temp1 I reckon is the processor. 55oC is OK but perhaps a bit high for my liking. If you feel confident doing this, you could reduce the temperature of the processor with a better processor cooler. I use an Arctic Cooling one for my 3700.

The board temp I presume is Temp3 then which at 42oC is a little too toasty. Can't understand why it is that hot. How hot is the room the PC is in? It isn't next to a radiator that is on is it?

You are running MCE, admittedly I know little if nothing about this. I'd run SuperPi for a while and see if your rig can last long enough to post results. I don't know how many decimal places people normally run SuperPi to. I think 2 or 4 million. Perhaps considering the problems you are having, run each test starting from 16K upwards and see if the PC powers off or whatever is going on.

You've got the latest chipset and graphic drivers but have you got all the latest Windows updates and perhaps more importantly the latest bios?

yeah all my drivers are up too date , yes have downloaded all the windows updates. yeah my computer is in the same room as a rediator but the radiator is never on. my room is normal room tempreture :)

Hmm so there isn't a good reason for what I think is the board temperature to be at 40+oC?

I'd run SuperPi from the link in my previous post and see if the PC can handle the 16K test. Then run the next one up to and including 4M and see if your PC can complete each test. It might be that after a certain test the PC just can't take the stress.

Temp3 looks like the CPU temperature, Temps 1&2 looks like misread sensors (ignore).

The fact is has a flame next to it, is because it's over the recommended temperature, which, in itself isn't anything to worry about I wouldn't say.

This is a huge coincidence, exact same problems myself, only after installing MCE (Going back to Pro didnt help) only crashes in games, Windows is 100% Perfect.

:(

Strange, so both of you had processors running at OK temps before you tried MCE yet when you go back to XP Pro from MCE the temps are still too high and the PC can have problems with in-game graphics?
