Helphire experiences

That would validate my very existence. :) Not to perpetuate such an apparently contentious issue, but I can't see what car he drives as being pertinent to his request for experiences with helphire at all, especially considering a car hasn't even been assigned to him yet. In retrospect if they were wrong, yes I see it. Not right now though. As for my replacement, I was offered a VFR800 too, but when I queried the cost of the DL compared to the VFR, the reply was that they would supply either for the same price as they were both on their way. I took the V-strom.

I think you need to read the thread from start to finish, and then get a grip.

You can't predict with any certainty what car you'll receive unless you have something to do with how the cars are dealt out and know what's available was my point. Think you're being a bit paranoid there fox. I hadn't even noticed the OP's sig.

You can - they offer like for like and he has an A4. We can use this information to predict he won't be offered a Kia Rio, a Maybach or a BMW 1 Series ES. When rg-tom was offered a car he had a choice between a BMW 320d and an IS220D. It would be therefore logical to assume a similar choice will be offered to the OP - especially given the car he drives.

We can also use this information to predict he won't be offered a Raleigh grifter or a Robinson R22. It still makes the question no more than an invitation to guess. It will depend on what cars in the specified range are available at his local branch, simple as that. You can't predict that. What you can do (and I did, incidentally) is to comment on previous contact with the company and what they regard as like for like. In this particular case, the category is 'prestige car'.

He'll be offered a like for like prestige car - so something in the compact executive class. This class contains BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Lexus IS and Merc C. It'll be something like that. They've got a lot more categories above 'Prestige car' - they appear to have virtually all bases covered. All at the expense of you and me :D

Anyway it's about time we agreed to disagree becuase I think we've both made our respective points :D

jamoor, just looked at that company, and from what I can tell my car (s2000) would come under the category sports... would that mean I could end up with the cayman !?

knowing my luck !

but in all seriousness... how could they justify giving me a 45k cayman s?

you have a 10k s2000......so the cayman is worth 4.5 times the amount.

I have a 2k max mondeo, they gave me a 320D m sport auto....with a list price only a few hundred quid short of £30k.....thus it's 15x more valuable.

Soooooo.....it's not beyond reason to expect a cayman if the worst should happen! They gave muncher a boxster for his VX220 and the boxster is worth a lot more.

how the **** should I know, I only had the collision this afternoon!

Think yourself lucky if you get even a 1.6 1 series. I have similar car to yours but A3 DSG and they gave me a manual Ford Ka, to say I died a little inside is an understatement.

With helphire or with your own insurers? Helphire and other companies exist to provide you with a like for like car so you are not completely inconvienced by being driven into by some other moron.

Oops, this was another repair shop. My apologies.

I got a 320d SE today, will be replaced with a 525d m sport on wednesday, can complain but would rather not, thought I would let the smaller guys have a slice of the pie for once, that and the chap is a pher.

The downside of these firms I guess it that they are partially responsible for driving premiums up?

true

helphire are claiming £1400 off my insurance co for a couple of scratches on a bumper

it was a low speed impact, i just cracked a numberplate and replaced it for the grand total of £10.

The however, seemed to find the need for £700s worth of repair plus £700s worth of car hire. Quite how you can claim £700 for a scratch to a rear bumper i dont know. I mean a whole new one resprayed is under £500 inc. labour.

Needless to say my insurance co are still refusing to pay and havent settled yet. Rather them than me.
