Here we go again!! Another knife attack.

Who was he attempting to murder? Was he followed to the station by the police?

Seems very unclear what this was all about.
Presumably if you run at people with a machete, that falls quite neatly under 'attempted murder'.

Not to mention possessing a dangerous weapon, breach of the peace (lol) and all the rest of it. What exactly are you asking?

Indeed. I do wonder why some people feel the need to try and protect people like this.

I'd imagine someone who gets to age 59 before deciding to wobble about on a train platform with a big knife, is someone who has gone through some sort of recent mental crisis.

I'm happy they apprehended him without the need for lethal force.

The Police did a good job, I worry about a determined attacker prepared for a taser being used against him though. It feels like the only mitigating factor to dead members of the Police and/or public is the fact that the machete wielding lunatics are also incompetent.

Someone so unpredictable that they charge about a railway station trying to attack people with a machete is probably best retired permanently to the land of Nod, IMHO. But if the cops don't have firearms I suppose they have to risk their lives to get up close and personal enough to try a Taser. Rather them than me.

seemed in control of his actions as he put his hands up when confronted by Police.
Cant see mental health carrying much of a defence here.
He was aware of what was happening, and aware of his actions.

I mean, people can be aware of their actions, it doesn't mean that voices in their head aren't telling them to go hack someone up. I'm being serious there as well.

Maybe, maybe not. I haven't heard of any actual injuries caused, though, which leans towards the dazed and confused side of some sort of mental health issue.
