How many different gfx cards have you tried?

Again, what board is it?

Does this GTS 450 need extra power via a PCI-E power cable from the PSU?

sorry the motherboard is
A gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H rev1.0

i have tried 2 graphics card the gts 450 which requires 1 extra power pin from the psu
and a gtx 570 asus card which requires 2 extra power pins from the psu.

Flash to F18i then, use Qflash found within the BIOS and stick the BIOS file after you have extracted it onto a USB drive.

You can, its just that Qflash is the safer more recommended way.

If you have trouble getting @BIOS to work then check Gigabyte again as there is a newer version available to whats on the disk.
